Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Adriana Merenik. You're watching Useways' YouTube channel. Here with me is Moel Merenik, CTO of Meandria, the company behind Useways. So, recently we had an inquiry from a client about using speech-to-text on Google Cloud Platform and we had to do a little bit of digging about that because we are very familiar with using APIs on Google Cloud Platform for speech-to-text. We did some development on that, but this part on-prem is not very close to us, as usually is the case. But, of course, we can work on all such projects because it is a part of Google Cloud Platform. So, can you tell us more about this speech-to-text
Speaker 2: on-prem? So, it is possible to install a speech-to-text API and utilize basically the same code, a very similar code for speech-to-text by using Anthos and installing speech-to-text from
Speaker 1: Marketplace. Yeah, there is also an option to use an on-prem version of speech-to-text on Google Cloud Platform in the Google Cloud Platform itself, so not on-prem. So, one version
Speaker 2: is that you can install Anthos on bare metal or on some hypervisor and, as Adriana said, you can also install speech-to-text on Google Kubernetes engine, so it is possible to run it
Speaker 1: in GCP as an on-prem solution. So, basically, if you want to use the speech-to-text on Google Cloud Platform, you have three options. Yes. And using APIs is most probably for like 90% of companies and developers the best solution, but there are some companies, of course, that want to have it on-prem or that want to use the GKE, Google Kubernetes engine, in the cloud for some reason. There can be many reasons and we never question the motives of our customers. We want to help them get to the best result. So, for many clients, we would, of course, recommend going with the API. Is there some way to try out the Google speech-to-text and to see how it works? Yes,
Speaker 2: there is a playground and, as far as we know, we tried other platforms as well, but it seems that Google speech-to-text supports a lot of languages and provides a better quality than most of others.
Speaker 1: Yes, and not only our experimentation with the various platforms, with AWS, with Azure as well, but also what our clients are telling us. Most of them, before they contact us, they already have some idea which platform serves their needs better. So, for instance, we are native speakers of Croatian and it is a very small language and it is also supported on the Google Cloud Platform, which is really fantastic. Yes, it's great. Yeah, so, basically, if you have any questions regarding the speech-to-text, if you would like our help with some project, please do contact us. There are so many options. It is such an exciting area.
Speaker 2: Would you like to add something else, Mladen? You can contact us on Fridays. We have hours especially dedicated for that purpose. Yeah. You can subscribe to use this as well. Yeah,
Speaker 1: and like the video and we will see you very soon. Thank you so much. Thank you. Bye.
