Speaker 1: Hi everyone, Blake Jones here. In this episode of How Do You Do That, we're gonna look over the new subtitling and transcription functions in Resolve Studio 18.5. This is a fantastic new feature that's in Resolve 18.5 that allows you to pull subtitles directly from your audio track and put them on a subtitle track. There's also a transcription function that will allow you to transcribe audio off of your video and then also it has a interactive display that allows you to search through specific words to find the word that you want to edit. So with this, you can actually do editing based on the transcribed text, which is a fantastic feature. So let's have a look at it. So we can create a transcription from anywhere in which the media pool area is visible. And so whether that be the media page, the cut page, the edit page, or even the Fairlight page. And then if we want to see which languages are supported, all we have to do is come down to our project settings here and then you can see here under Subtitles and Transcription, there's a Transcription Setup here. And this shows us exactly what languages are supported here. Generally, I always find it's best just to leave it in auto. And then if I want to transcribe a particular clip, then I can just come over to my media pool area, right mouse click here, select Audio Transcription, select Transcribe. Clear Transcription will clear the transcription information associated with the clip. We click on Transcribe. And then as you can see here, then as you can see here, now it initializes it. Analyzes the clip. Okay, now we can see the transcription that is associated with this particular clip that we have. Clip that we have. Now, if I come over here and play the clip, you can see it scrolling. Now, if I want to jump to a different area of the clip, I can also just click on it with the mouse. And if I want to play through a particular phrase or sentence, I can just highlight it in teal and then go through and then play through it this way. The red dot shows me exactly where I am associated in the sentence at this moment. The parentheses with the three dots in the center is showing me a period of silence. You can actually come to the three dots here and say remove silent portions from your transcription. You can come up here and export the transcription as a text file, and then it will come over here like so. And this is very useful, for example, maybe your production manager or director or anybody like that would like to have a transcription of the text from your particular clip so they can use this for deciding where they want to edit in and edit out, for example. Now, what's great here is you can also place flags here, and then you can also create subclips and then you can also insert and append text to your transcription in this area as well. This will increase the size of the font that's being displayed, or you can change it from white on black to black on white backgrounds, for example. Now, if you close this window, you can also get back to it by simply clicking here on the transcription button here and this will recall the transcribe window and you can bring it over to how you want it. You can always tell a particular clip that has transcription associated with it. It'll have the small transcribe icon next to the music icon, which shows me there's audio and then this one shows me that there is a transcription information. We come up to our timeline area, left mouse click on it, scroll down and select Create Subtitles from Audio. Now, what this does here is this allows you to either like with the setup for the transcription in the subtitle function, it will give you auto or it gives you all the languages that are supported. I usually leave it in auto and that is perfectly fine. We also have a caption preset function that allows us to leave it in subtitle default or we can select Teletext or Netflix, for example. And then we can select the amount of characters per line, whether we want double or single line subtitles and how many gaps in frames between subtitles. So we'll just have it as double and then click on Create to start the subtitling process. Great, so the subtitles are now completed. It's created a subtitle track automatically and we have our subtitles here. So now if I turn the audio on and then we can play this. Hi everyone, Blake Jones here. And in this episode of How Do You Do That, this is a slightly different type of video. We're going over the Toko Graphics add-on for DaVinci Resolve. Toko Graphics is actually a unique item that once you... So as you can see, it's done a very efficient job and very fast job of subtitling the entire timeline. And as you can see here, we can scroll all the way down to the end, like so. And like with any subtitle file, you can click on a subtitle, you can come to your inspector and then you've got, you can edit all the parameters of this subtitle. Edits all the parameters of the individual subtitles that are there, for example. So there we have it. For more information about training services, have a look in the comments below.
