Speaker 1: In today's video, I will talk to you about the life of a corporate lawyer, salary, incentive, bonuses, what they have to do, what their salary is, and why it is different from a litigation lawyer. The work of a corporate lawyer and a litigation lawyer is different. A corporate lawyer does not have to go to court daily, while a litigation lawyer has to go to court daily, has to appear in front of the judge. The main job of a corporate lawyer is with entrepreneurs. And in today's time, for all the law students, the corporate job has become a big fascination. Why? Because in today's time, big law firms are paying corporate lawyers from ₹ 1.5 lakhs to ₹ 3 lakhs per month. And today, these packages are easily going to ₹ 30 lakhs, ₹ 40 lakhs, ₹ 50 lakhs. Not every law student gets it. Some selective students get it. Keep this in mind. And a lot of IAS officers, judiciary officers, whose students are selected after college, are also resigning from the judiciary and switching to a corporate job. What is the reason for this? The reason is income, incentive, salary, bonuses, lifestyle. Now, your question will be, how you can get such a job and pay scale? This is a wrong question. Do you know what is the right question? What work do corporate lawyers do? You should have that work, those skills, then you will be able to make so much money. See, first of all, what do corporate lawyers do? What is corporate? All the business hubs in India, Adani, Billa, Reliance, there are lakhs of businesses. Corporate lawyers provide services to these companies. From company formation to trademark, registration process, and all kinds of legal work, all are done by corporate lawyers. Now, there is a full service law firm and there is a boutique law firm. What is the difference between the two? I will tell you. I will give some examples about full service firms. Amarchand, Trilegal, Chir Amrit, all kinds of legal work are done here. A to Z, any entrepreneur will get all the services. What happens in boutique firms is that they are specialized in some areas. Now, what are those areas? It can be trademark, NCLT matters, copyright, patent, due diligence. They don't work much. They work in limited areas, niche areas. Now, what is a good option for you? Both are good options. But you will have to specialize in an area. Accordingly, you have to choose. And in the early days, always start your career with a small law firm. Why? I will explain the reason to you. There you will work directly with the boss. You will get more knowledge and experience. Later on, you can switch to a big law firm. Now, what are the different areas where a corporate lawyer practices? First is M&A, means Merger and Acquisition and Investment. Then there is Banking and Finance. Then there is Project Finance. Then there is Niche Area Practice, Trademark, Copyright, Patents. Then there is Litigation and Corporate Disputes. They handle Tax, Arbitration, Structuring of Deals. If there is a huge deal of Rs.1000 crores, then they make the legal structure. Seventh is Due Diligence, Documentation, Contract Drafting, Negotiation. Ninth is Deal Compliances, means the compliance of the deal between two companies. All these things are done by corporate lawyers. Now, what is the structure of a law firm in India? In the top position, there is a senior partner. Below that, there is a partner. Below that, there is a principal associate. Below that, there is an associate. Below that, there is a junior associate. Below that, there is a team member. The salary of the team member is Rs.40,000-50,000 maximum. I am telling you max to max. The partners play in profits. The associate gets both incentive and salary. In this corporate ladder, you have to go up fast, means you have to go to the musician of the partner. So, what all you have to learn? Basically, you have to learn how all are there in the corporate. Along with that, how to handle the client, how to talk to them, how to give them service, how to give quality delivery. Plus, find out the problems of the typical solution. Now see, what do the partners do? They bring the deal, find out their solutions, give it to the associate. If you can find out the solution of any typical problem, if you are good in research, if you are good in finding solutions, then you will go to the level of an associate as soon as possible. And as soon as possible, you will go to the level of a partner. So, you should know these skills. For that, do daily reading, do research, watch videos.
