[00:00:00] Speaker 1: ChatGPT can record meetings now and honestly when I first saw that I thought do we even need AI note-takers anymore? Because ChatGPT can record a conversation, transcribe it, separate speakers, summarize it and then you actually ask the questions about what was said. That's a pretty crazy amount of technology sitting inside a chat window but after actually using it I think there's a bit of a problem. ChatGPT is incredibly good at thinking about information but I'm not convinced it's actually the best place to capture it and for me that distinction is pretty important. So let's start with record mode. You open ChatGPT on your Mac, hit record and it starts listening and this is genuinely quite impressive. You can have a meeting, a brainstorm, even just a voice note and ChatGPT turns that into a transcript and summary and then you take that information and immediately turn it into an email, a project plan, whatever you want. That's the part that ChatGPT is incredibly good at, the thinking process. But there's something funny about the way it works because the moment I leave my Mac I can't use it anymore. If I'm walking somewhere and I suddenly have an idea I'm not opening my Mac to record it. Instead I'm reaching for my phone and actually that's where I use HappyScribe. I can open the app, hit record and just start talking. No meeting link, no bot and I can even record without an internet connection. So let's say I'm on a plane or somewhere with no signal, I can still record. Then when I'm back online the recording uploads and gets transcribed automatically and now that conversation is sitting in the same workspace as everything else I've just recorded. Now that's a completely different way in capturing information. Now the second thing I notice is that I don't always want an AI summary because sometimes I just want the actual conversation. Let's say someone says something really important 43 minutes into the phone call. If all I have is the summary I have to trust the AI, it understood the full conversation. With HappyScribe I've got the recording alongside the transcript. I can find the line, click it and go straight back to that moment in the audio and that's an important difference between client calls, meetings etc. Those exact wordings really matter. Then there's a thing that becomes more useful the more you use it. Your conversation history. Because I've got months of recording within HappyScribe so I can just search through it or I can just ask the AI what did the client say about the pricing and instead of remembering which meeting that happened in, I just get the answer. And this is where I think the whole AI note-taking category gets quite interesting because the goal isn't really just to take notes, it's to build a memory of the things you don't want to write down. And there's another problem that gets overlooked within AI demos. Language. A lot of these demos are naturally built around English but real conversations aren't. You may have a meeting in English, an interview in Spanish and then another conversation where people start switching between languages. Well HappyScribe supports 150 plus languages and dialects so those conversations can all live within the same ecosystem and because the mobile app is using the same underlying HappyScribe transcription system you can start something off on your phone and carry on working with it on your computer later. Now I'm not saying ChatGBT is bad. Actually I personally use it constantly. If I want to brainstorm an idea, write something, analyze information or turn a transcript into something useful, ChatGBT is ridiculously good at that. And that's why I don't really see ChatGBT and HappyScribe as competitors. I think they're good at different parts of the same workflow and you can actually use HappyScribe and ChatGBT for an MCP so you don't have to choose just between one. You can bring your HappyScribe transcripts and meeting data directly in ChatGBT and use ChatGBT's reasoning on top of everything you've just captured. So really you just get the best of both worlds because HappyScribe remembers everything that was said and ChatGBT figures out what to do with it. And honestly that's where I think AI gets really interesting.
