+1 (831) 222-8398Speaker 1: Subtitles make videos more accessible. People with hearing difficulties, non-fluent language speakers, and those on mute will all use subtitles to watch your video. Here's how to easily add subtitles in Canva. Let's start by creating our video. We're putting together a short Instagram reel for the supporters of our non-profit, OceanOrg. The video will feature a volunteer sharing three easy ways to reduce plastic pollution. First, search for Instagram Reel and open a blank document. In the editor, drag the video into the side panel to upload it into Canva. Next, open the notes box and paste in our video transcript. Now that our assets are ready, we need to split our video into scenes so we can add subtitles later. To keep our subtitles short, we'll break this video into five scenes. Play the video in the timeline and hit spacebar to stop where you want to split it. Right-click and select Split.
Speaker 2: Repeat this process to split the rest of the video to suit your subtitles.
Speaker 1: First, we want to place our subtitles in a safe area that is readable across our scenes. Go to File and then Show Rulers and Guides or press Shift-R on your keyboard. Move your mouse over the ruler at the top of your document. Then click and hold to drag down your guide. Create two guides to define a safe area for your subtitles. Now copy the transcript from the notes and paste it into our first scene. You can change the font, color, and size of the text. Finally, to make sure your subtitles are readable, go to Effects, then Background. You can change the color of the background, the transparency, and the roundness of the corners. Now copy the subtitles and paste them into the next scene. Change the text, adapt the length of your lines, and repeat the process for the other scenes in the video. In just a few minutes, our Instagram reel is ready for our audience.
Speaker 2: Want to help save our ocean from plastic pollution? Here are three things you can do. Say no to bags, straws, and other types of single-use plastic. Support local and national campaigns to ban single-use plastic. Join a local beach cleanup near you.
