Speaker 1: Today I will show you how to enable audio description on your smart TV. This may not work on cheap Chinese brand smart TVs. Audio description is narration of visual and non-verbal parts of a program given during gaps in actors dialogue to inform vision impaired people with a greater understanding of what is being shown on the TV screen. You may have heard this sound when watching the start of a program and wondered how to enable audio description on your smart TV. As with subtitles, audio description can also be turned on or off. To access audio description for enabled ABC and SBS related TV programs, you must first be viewing live TV, not through a set-top box or PVR. First press on settings. Press on general. Press on accessibility. Press on audio description settings. Press on audio description. Green light will indicate audio description is on. If you need more time and are using a laptop, press space bar to pause or play this video or J key to go back 10 seconds. However, these links and others are repeated under show more below this online YouTube video. I will now demonstrate audio description in action. Audio description will now also work on SBS and SBS Spiceland.
Speaker 2: The following program is audio described on television for people with impaired vision.
Speaker 3: The train driver sounds horn as the train approaches the Trestle Bridge. Passengers wave as the Savannah Lander passes by.
Speaker 2: Hundreds of cattle are being mustered by a dozen riders on horseback.
Speaker 1: In the description below this online video are links to which ABC and SBS TV programs have audio description available. Also below this online video is a YouTube link to how to enable audio description on Netflix plus a link to what movies and TV series have audio description available on Netflix. This video is a result of research into helping my 96 year old father who is going blind. Bye for now.
