Speaker 1: In today's video, I will talk to you about the career of an IP lawyer and litigation lawyers. What is the difference between the two careers and which one is more beneficial for you? IPR lawyers deal with businessmen and entrepreneurs. Litigation lawyers work to represent criminals, civilians or any type of client in the court. IPR lawyers have more freedom because they can work online or remote. Litigation lawyers have to go to the court daily, so they have less freedom as compared to IP lawyers. The second point is that today's litigation is full of competition. Why? Because lawyers are increasing, but clients are still the same. Clients are not increasing as fast as lawyers are increasing in litigation in India. So there is a lot of competition there. If I talk about income in both professions, then there is a 10 to 15 year struggle in litigation for young lawyers. But if you practice well in litigation, then you become stable and develop a stable earning. IPR lawyers have a struggle of 1 to 2 years in the beginning because there is less competition in that field. So there is a good scope for you. IP lawyers can also delegate their work, which is not possible in litigation. Why? Because there is a face value of the lawyer. In litigation, the income is less in the beginning. And later on, if you are not able to build a good practice, then your income will be low. Now let's talk about what IP lawyers do. The first job of IP lawyers is trademark selection and registration. The second job is to make copyright, patents, IPR agreements, advise clients. All these things are done in an IP law firm. And they practice in various other areas as well. Like due diligence, joint venture agreements. Gradually, as their clients increase, they also increase their work. And if an IP lawyer is only working in trademarks and copyrights in India, and he gets only 10 to 20 new clients per month, then he can easily earn lakhs of rupees, which is not possible in litigation. Because there is a lot of competition. And there are not many paying clients in India who can pay young lawyers. The senior advocates who have been practicing for 30, 35, 40 years, their fees are generally very high. They can earn lakhs of rupees in a day. But it is not possible to earn that much for young lawyers in litigation. So this was the difference between the two careers.
