Speaker 1: Judging by looks alone, this car is already exceptional, but it's more than just eye-catching. With an advanced hybrid powertrain, luxurious interior and cutting-edge technology, it offers both style and performance. Welcome to another exciting TubiCars review, today we're taking an in-depth look at the Lexus NX Edge, more specifically the top-spec NX 350 Edge, it is positioned in the highly competitive luxury compact SUV segment and we're here to tell you more about its design, performance, specs, features, driving experience and more. Let's start with the design, an area where this compact crossover shines the brightest, especially in this unique Sonic Quartz colour. The NX 350 Edge sports bold and aggressive styling with several signature Lexus elements, the most obvious one of them all being the spindle grille up front. When viewed from the front, the NX looks a bit smaller and sportier than it actually is. The sleek LED headlamps with the L-shaped LED DRLs, sharp lines on the bonnet and fender and the sporty bumper all add to its character. It rides on premium 20-inch alloy wheels and the side profile also features several character lines. It may not look like it, but the Lexus NX 350 Edge measures 4,660mm in length, making it the longest SUV in its segment, longer than the likes of the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLB, Mini Countryman and more. That makes for a roomy cabin too. The sporty styling continues at the rear with the signature split L-shaped LED tail lamp, it features a spoiler with an integrated stop lamp, a simple LED strip above the Lexus badging and a sophisticated bumper with a body-coloured diffuser. The dual-tone black and tan interior of the Lexus NX 350 Edge looks and feels upmarket. Lexus has used premium quality materials throughout with soft-touch surfaces, leather upholstery and beautiful wood trim on the door panels. The seats are comfortable and supportive and come with a ventilation function, making short and long drives a pleasure. The centrepiece of the dashboard is the 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It's responsive, easy to use and has a classy interface. It is paired with a premium 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system that sounds brilliant. This car is also equipped with the optional wireless smartphone charger and a head-up display. Want some more tech? This SUV is equipped with a sophisticated hybrid powertrain. It comprises a 2.5-litre inline-four petrol engine and two electric motors. Together they produce 240hp and 239Nm, more than adequate for a compact SUV. With a 0-100 kmph time of just over 5.6 seconds, it is pretty quick but nowhere close to being the quickest compact SUV out there. However, it is a fantastic all-rounder. The hybrid system not only improves efficiency but also delivers smooth and quiet performance. It is a tried and tested system that's also found in a few other Lexus and Toyota cars. The switch from EV mode to petrol mode is instantaneous and almost seamless. With a super light foot, you can even get the SUV to drive in EV mode at speeds of up to 85 kmph. The Lexus NX 350h handles remarkably well. The suspension is tuned to absorb bumps across all road surfaces and the steering is precise. And thanks to the all-wheel drive system, you get excellent traction irrespective of what surface you're driving on. One of the main selling points of the NX 350h is its fuel economy. With its 55-litre fuel tank and a fuel efficiency of around 16 kmpl, you can expect a range of over 800 km. We actually managed to clock 250 km on just a quarter tank of fuel under mixed driving conditions. That's super impressive. While most options in the luxury compact SUV segment end up being confused between performance and luxury, the Lexus NX 350h has its priorities set straight. This one's all about luxury and premium feel while being efficient and kinder to the environment. It does have decent performance pedigree but it's not all too shouty about it. It's a composed little SUV that does everything well. What do you think of the Lexus NX 350h? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
