+1 (831) 222-8398Speaker 1: Rapid ILL is a dynamic resource sharing system developed by staff at Colorado State University Libraries. The system is designed to provide very fast and efficient processing of interlibrary loan requests, and the community-focused participation means libraries commit to resource sharing at the highest level. This includes agreeing to reciprocal lending, fast turnaround time, and high-quality scans. Because of these high standards, patrons at Rapid ILL libraries often receive their article and book chapter requests within hours. Since Rapid ILL functions behind the scenes, and users continue to place their requests the same way they're used to, they just receive their materials faster. The Rapid ILL pod structure provides libraries with options on how they interact with partner institutions at both an academic and consortial level. Interested in expanding the scope of your Rapid ILL participation to include a deeper and more global set of holdings? Join the Cosmo pod, which is open to all Rapid ILL libraries and has a membership that includes North America, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand. Rapid ILL routes requests using a unique algorithm that utilizes low leveling and time zone awareness, a request placed by your patron overnight might route into Rapid, be filled by a partner library, and arrive at the patron's laptop before you get into the office in the morning. So what does Rapid ILL barring look like? Well, for most requests, you don't even see anything from a staff level. Rapid ILL automates the workflow from the point of the request arriving into your ILL management system to the end-user delivery. Rapid ILL also identifies locally held material and provides call number and location information for requests that can be filled internally. For requests that are not owned locally, it locates potential lenders using a targeted holdings process which goes to the volume level for article requests. This brings us to lending. The Rapid ILL system was created to provide the best lending experience possible. Lenders only receive requests for material that they own, and that they are able to lend. Each request has a call number and location to help locate the journal or book in your physical collections, and requests for electronic articles include a URL to help you locate the asset in your electronic resources. Rapid ILL also has a unique approach to document delivery. As a lender, you're able to choose the delivery method that works best for you, and you can use that delivery method for all of your lending requests, creating a streamlined workflow. On the borrowing side, Rapid ILL delivers all of your requests through one delivery protocol, enabling automated delivery to the end-user if supported by your ILL management system. Speaking of which, Rapid ILL is vendor neutral and integrates with most interlibrary loan management systems including Alma, Clio, Iliad, Relay ILL, and Tipasa. Setup is minimal, and because your staff are using the tools and workflows they are already familiar with, onboarding and training are easy. There are many other exciting features of Rapid ILL that I haven't touched on, including our industry-leading support and customer service, the easy lending process that leverages open access material to provide article requests to users within minutes, and our comprehensive statistical reports. Let us know if you would like more information or are interested in a full demonstration of the system. We look forward to seeing you in the Rapid ILL community.
