Speaker 1: MediaMate is a flexible software system to encode, repurpose and or decode subtitles and captions in a wide range of file-based workflows. Broadcasters, video-on-demand operators, subtitling and post-production facilities can streamline file-based subtitling workflows using MediaMate software from screened subtitling systems. For instance, by migrating traditional offline subtitling dubbing workflows into a file-based domain, MediaMate users avoid the need for labour-intensive and time-consuming tape handling and the associated investment in bulky hardware. There are several standard MediaMate packages to suit a range of typical workflows and custom workflow models can also be created to cater for more complex applications. MediaMate can be used stand-alone or integrated into a Telestream Vantage system. When used in this way, a MediaMate component is inserted into the Vantage workflow and its user-configured parameters are then automatically passed to MediaMate when it is called by a Vantage node. MediaMate's design, UE-Flokes, allows the user to visualise the workflow and easily configure variable parameters such as file paths, fonts, languages, teletext line and page numbers, and DVB PID assignments. Naturally, Screen's delivery and support team can get all of this set up for you so you can be ready to go in the shortest time frame, and Screen's engineers can also use Flokes to design a custom workflow model if required. MediaMate is a fully automated set-and-forget solution. Once the specific workflow parameters are configured, you can just leave it to do its thing. Using simple watch folders or for more advanced workflow management, use the optional REST API. The range of MediaMate packages supports many typical workflows, such as the Single Insert package which can add OP42 teletext subtitles to the VBI of SD-IMX video and insert OP42 or OP47 teletext subtitles as a SMPTE 436 data track in SD or HD-MXF video files. The Extract package allows already encoded captions in video files to be reused in alternative workflows, and the retiming engine even allows those captions to be reworked with an EDL prior to insertion into a new media package for instance. MediaMate's underlying modular component structure makes it very flexible so that custom workflow models can be developed on request, and new functionality easily incorporated when needed. Complementing its subtitling capabilities, audio description and spoken subtitles have recently been added to MediaMate's range of capabilities also. For instance, MediaMate can now produce, broadcast and mix audio description WAV files from separate program and AD audio files. Furthermore, via Microsoft's Standard Speech API, driving a modern text-to-speech system, MediaMate can also automatically convert a standard subtitle file into spoken audio without the need to record a voice talent, avoiding what is typically one of the most costly and time-consuming stages of the traditional audio description process.
