Speaker 1: Hi guys welcome to a Zenler FBH so Facebook help so got a question here from Ben and he's asking any tricks for creating nice interview style recordings from zoom so he's doing some interviews maybe over zoom and what's the best way of actually putting that together so it looks nice inside of a video so one point to bring up and I've already put a note down there on the post to Ben is that if you are doing side by side recording like this and then you try to blow those up for your actual video that's probably going to be 1920 by 1080 which is high HD then you're going to get graininess and blurring because you're overstretching it so my advice is you could actually run it as a speaker view so you've got full screen for a speaker and that way you've got the full screen to put in there now also remembering that zoom record 720 as well so that can cause a problem so it is hd but it's not high hd and i tend to output in high hd so just be aware wary of that you can always upload it to standard hd 720 if you want to but um i like to do it at full hd so that being that said and done let's uh go and uh take a recording so i'm going to try and do my screen and actually do a recording of me in the shot as a participant and me as the host as well because obviously it's just me so let's just try that now and see how it goes okay so now we have the zoom view at the moment it's just me in there I'll be being joined by me in a second so just a few things to look at in here before we start it properly is that in the top right we have speaker and gallery view so gallery view will put you side by side and speaker view will put you as the main speaker in the window and that's what will be recorded so just be you as the speaker the gallery view puts you side by side. and we're going to look at both of these things in the recording. Now before I bring the participant in I'm also going to make sure that I do hit that record button. So now I've been joined by myself as you can see and we are still in speaker view. There might be a little bit I've had to mute some microphones and turn others on so there's no echoing but that doesn't really matter at this stage. So let's go to gallery view and now what you can see is we've got this side by side view and this is what will be recorded when you output this out so if I just stretch the screen here you're going to see that it's gone side by side so you can do an interview style like this I ask the question and the speaker answers on the other side and you know vice versa and that can all be recorded now remember that you have to make sure that you hit that record button so as soon as I talk then I can answer back etc so the other way of doing it is with speaker view where you will become the main speaker so I'm going to be switching across to speaker view now let's click that there and you can see now it's just going to record me it's not going to record the two top videos that are above me it's just going to record that main window so now I'm going to switch to turning on the participants microphone I need to turn mine off because of echoing so when I turn this on and when I start speaking through the other camera then it will automatically pop up on screen so you can get this kind of good vice versa look. So let's just unmute myself now from that one and now I'll start talking and bang I've switched over. So this can be a really good way it's basically if both microphones are active when someone's speaking they will become the main view you have to watch out for interruptions when you use this mainly commonly it's most people record side by side just because it's a bit easier but this can give you a better result because obviously it's a bigger image so we're going to stop this recording now and I've obviously recorded it and downloaded it and I'm going to show you editing using Camtasia all right guys welcome back so we did that recording in the last one so what i want to do now is i want to open up that recording that i got from zoom and then we can see how that works so i've got the recording which is saved on my desktop here and i'm going to open that up in camtasia so i've got it there i'm going to open it up in camtasia so i'm opening camtasia now and obviously you'd make sure that you've got your backgrounds and all that stuff so you can put it in the background or any graphics you've got you'd obviously make sure that you've got all that to the size of the project and this is my project window open so if you check in under the settings inside here we can see what size this all is I don't have to touch this much so might have a problem in finding where it is I think I've of all preferences in here and the canvas size is probably 19 so it's high HD so if you were doing it because it's output from 720 you probably pick 720 in here because that's the recording of that size but if you want to work in 1080 then you could but it's going to be a smaller when you bring in so I'm going to set this to 720 and I'm going to click OK you won't see any size change on here but this will be output 720 that's HD and not in high HD so now I just need to import my media so I have a load of media obviously on my computer so I'm going to bring in that last video that we did which is that one there and and sorry here it's here and I'm going to click open so I've got it added to here I'm going to drop it down here so this was basically our tracks going through it recorded the audio from zoom as well so I'm just going to do a sound enhancement on this because it is a bit low so I'm just going to drop in a quick volume leveling and now I should better trip put my track over the top that's good so you can see this first one is all sorted so I want to get it to the start of where I start interviewing obviously so I put it here and then I just snip it here and then I could get rid of this now I'm back to the interview now I do want to put a background behind it and I do want to change it slightly so this is our let's just play this through so that obviously is in gallery view so we're side by side okay so this is our speaker view here so as you can see it's nice and big and when the participant speaks then that will be nice and big as well now at this point I'm going to cut the video because I'm messing around a bit here so let me just cut this video here let's just put it here and then cut it and then come over to where I am which is here and then I can just cut that there and stick these two together so I'll just drag this across here so now it's going to be a better transition so obviously I've got some echo but that's only because I was recording my voice and I had the next to me and I was talking so you wouldn't normally get that echo but for this demonstration purposes is actually perfect you know it doesn't matter so that kind of ends that interview so this was just carrying on from that but I just edit it there and I cut that out so now I have two versions I have this side-by-side version and I also have this you know full screen version and and notice it goes right to the very edges as well so with this one it doesn't so i wouldn't want to go into this video here and stretch it like this because what you're going to have happen is it's going to be really blurry if you compare it to there where i'm nice and sharp then it's going to be really blurry so i don't want to be stretching it inside there so i'm going to just press ctrl z to get back so you can see so choose which you want to use there whether you want to use the speaker style which i personally prefer because you don't get any of this black border going around the outside and then when you speak ask the question and then when he speaks it will just jump straight across to to him so you've got a nice cut there you know the flexibility of this as well is that you can um you know it can be you can do nice fade-ins and things like that but some people most people go for this kind of look and the reason they do that is basically because they don't want to mess around they just want to be talking here and the person replies which is perfectly well you know it's perfectly good but if you want to answer a reply you can do it like this so there's two ways of doing that there ben so what i want to do also is i want to show you how you can kind of snip it in so if i if i'm selecting this timeline here i'm going going to select this so this is our full screen version here yeah and then back here is our two in a row version so what you can do is you can actually get rid of that black around the outside so I'm going to media and I'm going to drop another piece of media in here I'm just going to drop a background image in here I'm just going to pick say our Zen zone sessions background because that's quite nice one so I've got this background here let's just click that and then just drop that straight in there I'll pull it right to the end of that timeline so at the moment you can't see it if I turn the eye icon it is actually there I'm going to show you a little tip in here how to cut this black area out all you need to do is you need to select the media and where you see these little buttons do you see them just press the alt key hold the alt key on the keyboard and drag down bang and then do the same for there boom so i've now created that cut fruit in there now what you could do is you could get really complicated with this and you could take this scene here and you could copy it and you could paste it above right stay with me then you could press the alt key on here and you could drag this in and you could form a divider like a lot will be perfectly a line to what you have in there because over the top not just dragged in you see that so this is how you could get these really cool effects going in I'm on this or stuff at really easily now I'm going to leave out for for now and I'm also going to show you about green screen if you go green screen behind your green screen this out so I could going to visual effects go to remove color drag it down here then over on the right hand side I'm going to select the green there and now I've cut myself out so then I could take my video footage and I could move myself to the bottom and then I could drop in some more media so we're getting really you know we're building on what you know before so I'll drop the Zen zone PNG file in and I can just drop that over the top and suddenly I've got something it looks a lot more professional just done from a zoom camera now of course i could do the same with this as well if i wanted to i'm just going to take this hold on let me just take that and drag that to there i'm going to copy this i'm going to do the same for this sort of thing so i'm going to take this background i'm just going to drag it right under and now i'm going to use the keyer to key this out so i'm going to go into visual effects again in fact what i can do is i can just click in there right hand click copy effect and i could paste that straight in there right hand click and then paste effect bang i'm cut out so you can see that background because i put underneath is appearing because underneath there so when it jumps into me as the other guy because i'm not on a green screen it's just going to replace me with that but again this is a really nice effect and you could take both of these and you could bring them down in size inside here if if you want to take now bear in mind that is going to jump to that when you do that but you could do that if you want to and then of course with the media you could drop his end zone session in there and because I've green screened myself al you've got it in the mind is over the top see that over the top of you but if I just change the order this for take both of these and drag it here now I am actually underneath so this is end zone logos underneath or behind me so i could do something like that and then i'm talking over the top of it there so if i'm talking let me just do that full screen boom and and when it jumps to where i where the participant speaks it's going to jump to that it's going to cover it so you need to be aware of that if you did a cut you could actually cut it down and you could do it like that in there and put it over there so you've still got the full screen there but then it cuts to him in the corner so there's a lot of different things you can do with this this is probably the easiest way to work with it and of course remember about that little tip about holding the alt key and bringing that down so you can just cut away some of the stuff in there so there you go hopefully that's helped you ben so when you're finished with it and you've decided i'm not going to use that one you're coming to here you've done your video recording done all your edits you can go to the share go down to here and then you can output it using one of your settings i have some default settings set up in here i can export this out let's call this interview and then it's on my desktop i'm going to click finish it's going to be really quick because it's a very small file and then i'm going to just show you the finished result of that little clip that we've got now apologies about the echoing that's just in the video itself so let me just flip that up that's closed I'm not going to save this so I hope it's come out all right so there's my final video let's play that and there we go so really easy to use and does the job so hopefully that's helped you out there been really easy to use that in Camtasia how long does that take me like you know a few minutes to put that together the main thing is making sure you that you've got the content ready to drop in
