Trump Sends Tom Homan to Minnesota to Oversee ICE (Full Transcript)

[00:00:00] Speaker 1: As the president announced Monday morning that he is going to be dispatching his borders are Tom Homan to the state. Trump wrote, quote, I am sending Tom Homan to Minnesota tonight. He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there. Tom is tough but fair and will report directly to me. This is a notable development, particularly because Homan, as the president pointed out, has not been the one on the ground leading these ICE operations. And this is really kind of a departure from the faces of what has been going on in Minnesota. One, Gregory Bovino, he is the border commander at large. But also the secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, they have been the ones that have been really out there publicly defending the ICE officers in the wake of the fatal shooting of Alex Pretty on Saturday, but also the fatal shooting of Renee Good earlier this month. This could potentially also signal a change in strategy. One, we should note that Homan is not as hard line on ICE operations as Noem and Bovino have been. We also CNN has reported that Homan and Noem have clashed and have been at odds many times over the last year regarding how to handle the president's immigration crackdown.
