Speaker 1: And here it is right in front of me the Sony PCM-D100 and is it fair to say that this might be the best recording device ever made? If you own one of these devices please let me know in the comments down below if I made the right choice. Now before we unbox it and go out and record some sound let me give you the most important reason why I purchased this recorder. And the reason is trust. I trust the people who I know own this device for many many years and oftentimes we have a conversation and they told me, Marcel please get the Sony PCM-D100 you will love it. So why shouldn't I listen to them? So thank you so much if you're watching this and I can't wait to finally open it up. So let's do this together. So you really don't need me to explain you this device. There are so many blog posts about it. There are several YouTube videos about this device. So what we're focusing on is the unboxing and also the sound quality later. Wow. Wow. So this is really brand new and how it feels like it. And look at this box it has this nice kind of cushion in here. What else is in the box? Support if I have any trouble. The user manual and even this is in a nice box. Oh look at this there's even a pouch. It even comes with the pouch. Wow. Oh hold on. USB cable. This is like the mini USB right? Yeah. The remote control and batteries. I have to look up what that is here. Maybe it's a Bluetooth adapter. I don't know. Oh not done yet. And it comes with the windscreen and this might be in a 6-volt adapter. Look what's all included. And now imagine we travel back in time to 2013 then these are all the things that you get when you purchase this device. Nothing like what you get now these days. Now what we're doing is we open this up and then we put in some batteries. So I put the batteries in. Let's turn on the machine for the first time together again. I think that's always fun. And power button is here. Oh now it's all in Japanese. What does it mean? Look at the time. 2013. We just traveled back in time. Also when I click these buttons here it feels great. Like the whole device feels so great in my hand. It's fantastic. Also just a little comparison. This is the Tascam X8. And here it is like side by side. So it was very easy for me to change the language. All what I had to do is first of all we use a light button. Then you have the screen on and then you go to settings and then you go to common settings and then we have language. We have only Japanese and English that we can change. I think it's amazing that a recording device back in the days came with wind protection. Because all the devices that I purchased I always had to buy an extra. With that that's a big plus. But I will look for alternatives from Rycote or Bubblebees. But for now this will do. So let's hit the streets and record some sounds. And here we are at the bus terminal. I think that's a great ambience. There's another bus coming. And now when we have a 24-bit recorder we have to make sure that our our gain isn't too high because these buses they are puffing and puffing. Also I would like to show you how fast this recorder turns on. Not even a second. Now if you're wondering what the mic position is right now I just faced them up. There is 120 degree. Then we can have it inward. And right now I have it faced up. I haven't figured out what microphone pattern it is in this capsule. Maybe you know it. Could be a cardioid. But I feel like almost omnidirectional. But yeah maybe you know more than I do. But of course I always do my own research. But since this is the first time using it it would be nice if you know that already. So what we're doing now is we're recording the pass by of a monorail right here next to the busy road. Now we're waiting for the one coming from the left. So what do you think about the sound quality? First recording when we had the microphone straight up and the second recording when we had it on 120 degree. Let me know in the comments down below. So we're right now here at the Okinawa baseball stadium and we can hear them training. And it's very loud. So they're screaming and also when the ball hits the glove there's impact. It is fantastic. It is PAM. And that's where we have to always keep an eye on the levels. So come with me. We go a little closer and then we record that ambience. So I think that was a really nice sound. It's very unique. And now let's see what else you can find. I hope it sounds good. It seems quite windy. So it's a good test to see how good this wind protection is. But yeah if I have the chance to get one of the bubble bees or the ricot then I probably exchange it. So right now we're under a bridge and here right in front of us is wetlands. And I thought that sounds kind of nice especially when the cars go over. Also here on the recording device this is so cool because the head or the capsules they're stepless. So I can decide where I want to have them. I think this is something I don't have on the other recorders. Absolutely fantastic. Now let's listen to this ambience. Wow what an interesting place. Right now we can hear siren in the background and we have this eerie wind. The bird chirping. Wow it's cool. So we're at the end of the video but definitely not at the end using this recorder. It is definitely the best recorder that I've ever used and the only question that I ask myself is why did I wait so long. So with that said thank you so much for watching and we can't wait to see you in our next video. you
