Speaker 1: Welcome back to Straight up podcasts normally what would be Friday's video of pod logic outside? But the weather is terrible, and I wanted to do a tutorial for y'all today So we're gonna be doing it indoors from the studio so today We're gonna be talking about how you can record your podcast without Pretty much anything just literally a USB microphone So what I have here is the Samsung key to you, and you don't need zoom h6 recorder You don't need a Rodecaster Pro, you don't need a mixing board, don't need a studio. This is all just to record from literally anywhere. So I'm going to plug the cable into the microphone. And what I'm going to do here is I'm going to plug this into my laptop. Now we're going to switch over to the screen here. And what you're going to do is you're going to open QuickTime Player. Now, nothing's going to open up when you first open up QuickTime Player, when you run the application. So what you want to do is you want to go to File, New Audio Recording. It's going to bring up this window here. And what you're gonna do now is hit this drop-down menu and select your Samsung Q2U microphone. You wanna make sure your microphone is switched on, so we'll select that. Test one, two, three. Test one, two, three. You can see the volume moving as I speak. Now, the reason I have the volume slider all the way down is you can also use this as a double-ending mechanism to record your podcast if you are doing a remote recording over Zoom. so you would use this microphone and record the QuickTime audio and use that as your podcast audio, but use Zoom online to actually communicate with the other person, because as I've talked about before, the audio that you get from Zoom just isn't as good as you could get it. Obviously, Zoom has some issues that they need to work out in terms of capturing high-quality audio. I don't think that's really their mission, though. Anyway, basically, all you'll do from here is you just hit Record. Now you're recording. Hey guys, welcome back to the podcast, episode one, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Now we're done. When you're done with the podcast recording, you'll hit stop and you can save it as whatever you want. So I'll save it as podcast test one. Now there's a couple options that we could go to from here. So if you are going to edit the podcast yourself, you would just drop this audio into your DAW. So what I can do here is open up Logic, start a blank podcast template. And what I'll do here is go to my bounces. There it is. So I'll just click and drag. And there we go. Now I can play with it. I can do EQs, anything I want to it. If you do not have a DAW or you're not experienced in editing a podcast and you don't want to really do any edits, even even just adding music to it, you want to just upload it immediately. The thing here as you can see on the screen is it's saved as a m4a file and most podcast distributors and hosting sites they need an mp3 style file what you can do here is go to cloud convert and so now you'll go to this this is totally free as well you go to cloud convert and you want to convert from m4a to mp3. Now let's select our file. There it is. Podcast test one. Convert takes a few seconds and boom, you're done. Download it. Hey guys. Welcome back to it's planet. And now it's downloading and you're done and just upload that to your podcast host. So it's really easy way to, uh, not have to spend money on a mix board on a zoom H six recorder, or these fancy XLR microphones, great way to get your podcast done really quickly. It's a great way to record your podcast on the go. If you are traveling and you need to record a podcast episode, this is a super easy way that you can do it from anywhere. All you need is your USB mic and your laptop, and then you can ship out to your editor or edit it yourself in your DAW or like I just said go to cloudconvert.com and they can do it for you and the bad thing there is that you can't really edit the podcast or add music or anything to it so that's how you do it it's very easy thank you for watching the video if you want feel free to subscribe if not totally fine go on to the next video find yourself a YouTube rabbit hole to jump down or if you are looking for someone to produce your podcast check us out at straightuppodcast.com you can check out our podcast PodLogic which releases twice a week. We also put out a YouTube video every week so that's why you would subscribe to the channel. There you go. Thanks for tuning in and I'll see you next week.
