First, you need to perfect your transcription skills. Learn how to transcribe like a pro, and you don't need to sign up for transcription classes. You can do this by yourself. On today's video, I'll take you through these two platforms where you can learn how to transcribe for free. I'll also give you information about the transcription companies which are currently hiring. Hi guys. Welcome back to my YouTube channel and thank you so much for tuning in. In case you are new here, my name is Carol and I share information on how to make money online. So consider subscribing to join the family. How to learn how to transcribe? Learning how to transcribe can be challenging and hectic, especially when you are a beginner. There are secrets that no one will tell you when you join the transcription field. Most people will advise you to enroll to online classes or get some kind of training. There are so many ways you can learn how to transcribe. One of them is by using the Scriby practice section. Here you can practice as many times as you can until you feel comfortable to take the test. You can use the practice section to learn, then go ahead and do transcription tests from any company. Once you sign up on Scriby.com, you will land on this page. At the top, we have seven tabs starting with introduction, guidelines, sample, terms, FAQ, practice and test. In case you know how to transcribe and you are looking for a transcription job, you can go ahead and do the test. So I will click on practice because that's what brought us here today. Once you have clicked on that, you will be taken to this page and at the top we have some instructions that you should follow. Let's go through them before we start practicing. Click on the blue play button to preview the audio quality and accent, then select the easiest one. The files range from low difficulty, medium difficulty and high difficulty. So it's very important for you to listen to them so you can be able to select the one that you prefer. Number two, we have press F10 and listen for five seconds. Press F10 again to pause and type what you hear. So F10 will help you to play the audio and stop. Repeat the process for the rest of the file. Press F7 to go back and F12 to insert a blank for inaudible parts. F7 helps transcribers to go back and listen to audio again if the parts was not audible enough. And in case you did not get what the speakers were saying, that's where inaudibles comes in. And you use F12 to insert them. Number four, spell check will be started automatically on submit and has to be completed in order to finish. So spell checking start automatically without pressing any key. Number five, on submission, your transcript will be compared with our version and the differences will be shown. Look at the major changes and evaluate the accuracy yourself. Once you submit your file, they're going to check it against the right transcript. Then the system will indicate the mistakes that you have made. Number six, please use supported browser, latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Number seven, please note that these files are provided for practice and are not representative of the actual test files. Actual test files are much harder. So these are not the real files. They're just there to prepare you on actual test. So make sure to do a good job to have a better chance of passing the test. Now there are so many files to choose from. You can pick the easier ones fast as you proceed to the difficult ones. We have files with different accents like American accent, British accent, Indian accent, African accent, and Australian accent. They provide files with different accents because a good transcriber can pick up any accent. So make sure to go through all of them for maximum results. So I'm gonna go ahead and pick one of them. Here is play button and this is where you type in your transcripts. Once you are done typing, submit your work to get the results. So go right to Scriby and learn how to transcribe using practice section. Another platform you can use is Gotranscript. We are now on Gotranscript page, scroll down and click on apply now. Here, you need to choose the language. I'm gonna go ahead and choose English. You can choose either of these languages depending on the language you wish to transcribe with. To create an account, you need to sign up. So you have to provide your email and password. Now once you sign up, it will take you to this page. Click on audit test because we are here for practice. So on this page, you can find old Gotranscript test. So go right ahead and pick a file. And after finishing this test, you will see the mistakes you have made. These practice tests are not representation of the real test, but they maximize the chances of passing the real test. Remember to follow their guidelines because you can't transcribe without doing so. Each and every transcription company has their own guidelines. So ensure that every time you are doing a test for any company to read their guidelines even before touching the test. This is because they view your work against their guidelines. So here we have several transcription tests. I'm gonna go ahead and choose one. We have here practice transcription test. Here you can practice your transcripts on skills with an old Gotranscript test. After you finish it, you will see all the errors you have made. To successfully finish this test, you need to read our transcription guidelines. These test jobs need to be done in a clean verbatim without timestamping. Before you start transcribing, you need to open a new tab for guidelines. Then go through them carefully and in case you didn't understand some of them, you can always go back again and again. All you have to do is while you are still doing your test, click on guidelines and check the part you need to clarify. Then go back and continue transcribing. You can try as many files as you can. Remember, the more files you do, the better chances you have to passing the real test. On Gotranscript, they also have editing test for practice. Now the editing files are already transcribed. All you need to do is just editing. It's your work to go through it and correct what needs to be corrected. You are required to check whether the speaker identification are done correctly, check on punctuations, spelling, paragraphing, and most importantly whether the audio matches the transcript according to guidelines. Once you are done, submit it for correction. Make sure you work on all these for better results. There are so many transcription companies offering practice files, but I just wanted to go through these two platforms, then show you the company which is currently hiring. Alphasight company is looking for experienced transcriptionists to join their freelancing team. I'm going to tell you all about the job and even how to apply for it. I know online jobs are hard to come by, and that's why I'm sharing hoping you will tap this opportunity. Alphasight is a legit company with more than 12,000 employees. Please note that they don't allow transcribers to use automatic speech recognition software like Otter. You will have to transcribe everything from scratch. So if you're a transcriber who rely on automatic softwares to help you transcribe, this job might not be the best fit for you. On Alphasight, they pay $55 per audio hour and approximately $0.19 per audio minute. It takes an average transcriber around six hours to complete one audio hour. It will take a beginner transcriptionist longer than that. But if you are a beginner, don't worry. Transcription is a skill and once you perfect it, you will take less hours to complete the file. The more you do it, the more you increase your typing speed, the more you increase your listening skills, the more you do your research faster and your turnaround time improves significantly. Note that it's not a guarantee you will be making a certain amount of money. When it comes to online jobs, especially transcription jobs, you earn as much as you work. You are in control of how much money you make and the work you do will depend on your availability, your typing speed. So it will depend on a lot of things. Now what are the requirements on Alphasight? Alphasight needs people with three years of experience, but that does not hinder beginners from applying. If you can deliver and meet the expectations, then apply. This is because they just need people who can do their job perfectly and who can meet their expectations. And if you can prove you can do that, then you get the job regardless of the years of experience.
