Let's pack the, uh, the rain jacket and your, your, uh, raincoat just in case." And so we jumped on the motorbike and, I don't know, we were 30 minutes into the trip. No joke, the wind was strong enough that, like, we were riding the motorbike straight but we were leaning to one side because we were trying to counteract the s- the crosswind. [00:01:16.68]

And I'm glad that we did because im- almost maybe, I'd say, three, four minutes after we put on the, our rain stuff, it just... it- the heavens opened and it just came down in buckets. And also with wind and gusts. I actually told your sister, 'cause she was sitting behind me, I told her, "Hey, keep an eye out for things flying around because I have to focus on the road," because it started, the road started to puddle and I didn't know if I would go into a big pothole, which ov- you know, on the route that we were taking there are lots of potholes. [00:02:27.66] Speaker 1: And so I was scared about that. So it, it was, it was wild. It was wild. This weather out here is bonkers. Now, that, that's, uh, that's what it was like yesterday. This morning it's just sunshine. It's beautiful. Um, a little cloudy but yeah, yeah. I, I know you just moved to a new, uh, to a new state. Uh, what's the weather like out there? [00:02:56.38]

Actually, it did cool down a little bit and, uh, and also what, what it, um, did too was kind of improve the air quality, 'cause there's a lot of construction going on out here and lots of dust and exhaust fumes and stuff. And, uh, and yeah, after a rain like that, I mean, the sky is super clear. If you look at the AQI index, it's in the green. Almost- [00:03:37.57]

Um, we did get some snow this year. Um, it's not as bad as Minnesota. Um, but I have to say, people forget that, uh, it gets dark. It gets dark here. Um, it gets dark from December, around December all the way to mid-March. [00:04:46.04]

[00:07:25.06] Speaker 2: So comparing Wisconsin's humidity to Georgia, it's, it's nothing. Um, yeah, so sometimes my friend would tell me, "Hey, it's so humid today," and I'm like, "Uh, I don't feel any humidity." Uh, you have to be from the South to know what humidity is, so. [00:07:42.54]

[00:07:43.98] Speaker 2: Yeah, so I don't, I don't feel like it, but other people, some of our friends, they say yes, the humidity gets up there. [00:07:50.72]
[00:07:50.72] Speaker 1: Y- you know, um, one of the things I heard about Wisconsin weather is that it, it's very bipolar. Um, I think I experienced this a little, a, a little just last, uh... Let me see. What would that have been? Last November we were in Wisconsin, and I do remember that we were just there enjoying a nice sunny afternoon. It was maybe like 12 or 1 PM, and then all of a sudden this wind just picked up and came out of nowhere, and it just stayed windy for the rest of the day. Uh, have you experienced anything like that? [00:08:32.48] Speaker 2: Yes. I, I tell people all the time Wisconsin has bipolar weather. [00:08:38.16]

[00:08:38.54] Speaker 2: Um, yeah. You, you could be outside, it could be sunny, warm. All of a sudden it starts to sprinkle. It gets dark. It starts to rain. Um, and then within the next one to two hours it stops and the sun comes back out. [00:08:57.20]

[00:08:58.91] Speaker 1: That is different. That is different. I remember in Florida, um, 'cause I was raised in Florida and, and in Florida we only have two seasons, wet and more wet. [00:09:11.04]

[00:09:11.30] Speaker 1: And, uh, you can almost guarantee every day around 11 in the morning, nice little isolated thunderstorm, some showers and then, you know, it goes away in less than 40 minutes, and then the sun comes out and everything is beautiful again. Uh- [00:09:30.47]

[00:10:29.68] Speaker 1: [laughs] Yeah. Yeah, just stay inside as much as you can or, uh, go to the beach. Because at the beach at least you get the, the breeze and, um, even if it's sunny and, and hot, at least you've got the breeze and you've got the beach, you got the water. You can just go in the water. Uh, although the water, uh, um, it's, it's pretty hot. It is pretty hot. I think during the summer the water temperature, not the air temperature, but the water temperature can get up into the 80s. So, uh- [00:11:01.60]

Ah, the other thing too, I think, uh, from about December through, if I remember correctly, February or March, um, two of the things that you had to be careful with in the water were sea lice, uh, which aren't really lice but it's kinda like, like a little mite. Or not a mite. It's like a... I don't even know how to describe it or exactly what it is. But it's something that it's seasonal and it's in the water. Um, and if you're not wearing a rash guard or something, it, you'll, you'll feel it on your skin and it bites. It, it's like having lice. And then, um-The other thing too, you have to be really careful about are, uh, Portuguese man o' war. I don't know if you're familiar with those, man o' war? They're kinda like jellyfish. [00:12:23.18] Speaker 1: Yeah, it looks like, um, they f- their, their body floats on top of the water, and it looks kind of like when you get a, uh, a grocery store bag and you twist one of the corners. That, that's kind of what a- [00:12:35.06]
[00:12:35.06] Speaker 2: Oh, I, I know what you're talking about, yep. [00:12:36.86]
[00:12:36.86] Speaker 1: Yeah. That's, that's kinda what a man o' war looks like. But the scary part is that their tentacles are in the water, and they could be, they could be very, very long. And so even though the, the body might be far from you, you could potentially get stung by one of the tentacles in the, in the water. And so you gotta be very careful during the season when they come across the Atlantic, and they end up on the, on the eastern, uh, shoreline. 'Cause I think it's all through- [00:13:08.38]

[00:13:11.70] Speaker 1: Thankfully, no. Thankfully, no. Uh, I've been stung by regular jellyfish, but not by man o' war, and thankfully that's just like a little seasonal thing. You, uh, you know, it's just like one or two months out of the year and then never again. So it's, uh, it's nice not to have to be concerned with that year-round. Um- [00:13:30.38]
[00:13:30.38] Speaker 2: What, what about, um, what about hurricane seasons? Are there hurricane seasons down there too? [00:13:35.98]
[00:13:35.98] Speaker 1: Oh, oh yeah. Yeah, yeah. Florida, it's half the year. Uh, I, I think it starts, [sighs] if I'm not mistaken, in late June or in June, all the way through to December. And every year, uh, meteorologists, they name about, I don't know, between six and 10 storms. And, and typically w- w- the, the reason why I said name is because when a stor- storm is... or a hurricane develops, and it, it becomes large enough to become a threat, typically the meteorologist will give it a name. [00:14:17.99] Speaker 1: ... those are the, those are the ones that they have to look out for because they can potentially, um, you know, cause some damage, especially in the Atlantic. Like I mentioned earlier, the, the water down there is... it can be very warm, and warm water is actually what fuels a hurricane. So the warmer the water is, the, the more powerful a hurricane can become. And so yeah, during the summer months, uh, we can get some pretty, pretty gnarly, uh, storms. Um, whether they're hurricanes or, uh, tropical storms, uh, they're, they're pretty scary. [00:15:00.12]
