Speaker 1: Hey guys, what's up? This is Josh from Ghost Creative. We're here today to talk to you about the seven steps to creating a content strategy for your small business. Alright guys, step number one is knowing who your target audience is. You have to know who you're talking to before you can create content that's going to resonate with them. So step number one is creating a buyer persona. There's tons of information online about how you do that, but you have to know who that person is that you're talking to before you can do anything else.
Speaker 2: Alright, step number two is to define your core message. And your core message is what you believe to be true. It's why you do what you do. It's why your business exists. So our core message here at Ghost Creative is that we believe that social media should be a core business strategy for small businesses.
Speaker 1: Step number three is to determine how you best storytell. If you're a photographer, take photographs. If you're a writer, write. If you like to do video, do video. It only makes sense. But this is going to be very important before you move on to the next step.
Speaker 2: Alright, tip number four is to select the social media platforms that are most relevant for your audience. So what does that mean? Well, if your audience is an older demographic, something like Facebook might be more important. If they're a younger demographic, think about Instagram and Snapchat. And the way that you need to storytell on these platforms is different. So you need to keep context in mind as you're choosing which platforms you want to market on.
Speaker 1: Step number five is to create a posting schedule. And quite honestly, this is where most people go wrong. They either don't create a posting schedule at all, or they create one and they don't use it. So the idea is you need to figure out how often you're capable of posting and how often your audience needs to hear from you to stay relevant. Write that down, document it, and most importantly, you have to be able to stick to it.
Speaker 2: Alright, step number six is to create a list of titles for your content. So this can be anything from a how-to video, a bulleted article that says why you should do these seven things. And when doing these, it's important to keep in mind your core message. So if you're having trouble coming up with how-to titles or seven tips to do this thing, then think back to your core message and who you're speaking to. Who is your audience and what problem are they trying to solve?
Speaker 1: Alright guys, the last step in the process is to batch create your content. So you have your posting schedule, you know your platforms, you have a good idea of your topics, and you know what content you need to create. To make it more efficient, you can create that content in batches as opposed to individually. So if you have three articles to write, write them all in one day. You can edit them another day, but just be more efficient with your time and the content creation doesn't become overwhelming. And then obviously you have your content schedule, your posting schedule, you have all your content ready, you just have to go post it.
Speaker 2: Hey guys, thanks for watching the video. As you can see, creating a content strategy doesn't need to be difficult, but it does take time. And if you're a small business that's looking to use social media to grow your business, then it's something you should seriously invest your time into doing. Thanks for watching the video. Please give it a like, it really helps us out.
