Speaker 1: Are you welcoming new employees into your company or business? Employee onboarding is an essential part of getting new hires comfortable in their work environment and helping them succeed long term. Unfortunately, this process can be neglected in some organizations. One 2018 study found that organizations with a standard onboarding process experienced 54% greater new hire productivity. Today, we'll be discussing seven new hire onboarding tips to help you get your onboarding process on track and give your new hires the best chance at success. I'm Noel with Jobform. Let's go. First, leverage what you've learned from hiring your past employees. All experience that you have with past hires can give you some valuable insights for onboarding new hires. Whether you hired a new cashier or a new CEO, you can use everything you've learned to identify ways to refine your onboarding process. Next, design your onboarding plan. Even with the knowledge you gained from past experiences, you should still have a tailored approach with each new hire. Some roles may require more training than others, like executives or specialized personnel. It's a good idea to meet with all new hires soon after their start date to discuss their specific needs. This should be a collaborative and honest discussion. Now that you know their needs, you should be able to create an onboarding and early development plan that identifies three or four goals each employee should strive for. And each employee should be supported by relevant activities, resources, timelines, and metrics required for achieving these goals. Next, you should use onboarding to inform ongoing development. It can take a new hire up to a year to make a significant impact with their work. To maximize their likelihood of success, you should regularly review their onboarding plan over the first six months and fine-tune it as needed. Be sure to seek out positive and constructive feedback from the new hire's internal and external customers. This information can also be used to update the plan. Eventually, you'll be able to roll the insights from the onboarding process and plan into your ongoing talent development process. Our next tip is to create an onboarding frequently asked questions document. You'll notice that a lot of your new hires will have the same questions during the onboarding process. You can either say the same thing over and over again or write it down once. Create this FAQ document so that you can share with your new hires and update it over time. While your new employees may have follow-up questions that reflect their unique needs, the FAQ document should provide most of the answers that they need. Next, you can use video to save time. Video will also ensure that you've covered all pertinent information. It also lets new hires review everything that you've said instead of hoping that they remember everything the first time. You can even follow these videos with a Zoom conference. This will allow your new hires to ask informed questions and further connect with their team. Our next tip is to utilize games to engage new hires. There are plenty of employee onboarding software solutions that offer a great opportunity to make training more fun for new employees. You can use gamification to encourage new employees to continue their learning journey. You can give out rewards like digital badges after they've completed a specific training module, as well as a leaderboard to show who got the highest score on a training exam. Lastly, you can provide your new hires with a brand-centric onboarding kit. An onboarding kit can be a marketing tool that further enhances your organization's brand. For instance, you can give your new employees company t-shirts, water bottles, lanyards, and other items that they can use in their work and personal life. This will turn your employees into proud promoters and champions of your brand, even when they're outside of the office. Let's review these onboarding tips one more time. You can leverage what you learned from hiring past employees, design an onboarding plan, use onboarding to inform ongoing development, create an onboarding FAQ document for new hires, use video in your onboarding process, use games to engage new employees, and provide brand-centric onboarding kits to new hires. These tips will definitely help you to have a successful onboarding process with your new hires. Well, thanks for watching. I'm Noel with JotForm. See you next time.
