Speaker 1: Welcome to ClearCaption's blue captioning phone installation and setup. You can pause or play the installation video at any point using the controls at the bottom of the video screen. This will allow you to view the installation video at your own pace. When you first open your ClearCaption's blue packaging, you should find One Start here envelope containing a quick start guide Easy reference pamphlet and warranty information One ClearCaption's blue phone One phone handset and cord One blue phone stand The stand can be positioned in one of two angles One box labeled accessories One medical release form and business reply envelope and one set of wall mount instructions and hardware. To start the installation, place your new ClearCaption's blue phone near a power outlet, a wired or wireless internet connection, and a phone jack. Feed the black power cord through the phone stand and plug it into the back of the phone where it says Power. Then plug the other end into an outlet. Plug in the white phone cord into the back of the phone where it says Phone. Insert the other end into a wall jack or into a telephone port on a VOIP modem or router. Remember, watch out for loose cords and avoid creating tripping hazards. If you cannot use an Ethernet cord, you can connect to your Wi-Fi network when prompted during the Setup Wizard. You will need your Wi-Fi network password to complete this step. Once you have power connected, your blue phone will move on to the Startup screen and then run the Setup Wizard. If you are not connected to the internet, you will see a red exclamation point for the first step on the Setup Wizard. You will be asked to select what kind of connection you want to use. Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Tap the Wi-Fi or Ethernet button on the Select Connection Type screen. If choosing Wi-Fi, select your Wi-Fi network name from the list and enter your password when asked. A green checkmark on the next screen indicates a successful connection.
Speaker 2: Tap Next when you are ready to continue. The phone should automatically check for a software update.
Speaker 1: If a new version of the software is available, select Yes when you see Update Now.
Speaker 2: The phone will update itself and restart.
Speaker 1: If a red exclamation point is visible on Connectivity Item 4, Registration, this means your phone has not been registered yet. To begin registration, enter your ClearCaptions username and password. The username is the same as your email address. The password was provided to you by your ClearCaptions representative. To retrieve your username or password, please contact your ClearCaptions representative. Tap the Login button to move on to the next page. You will now go through a series of screens asking you to enter or confirm the following.
Speaker 2: Your birth date. The last four digits of your Social Security number.
Speaker 1: The FCC Self-Certification Acknowledgement. After reading, you can press Accept to certify you are the one with hearing loss. The ClearCaptions Terms and Conditions. Please read and accept. The Customer Proprietary Network Information Terms. After reading, you can either Accept or Decline. Selecting Accept means that we can use your Customer Proprietary Network Information to provide you with new product or product enhancement information that we think would benefit you. Enter the phone number you are using on your blue phone. When the registration reports Success, you will see a blue checkmark next to the registration step.
Speaker 2: Congratulations. You can now move on to the tour.
Speaker 1: You can explore all the features of your blue phone by tapping the Tour button and watching the overview video. When the video is over, the Home screen will be displayed. You can watch the video again at any time from the Help section, by choosing Overview from the list of options. Before you complete the setup, please confirm your phone software is up to date by using the following steps. On the Home screen, tap Settings, scroll down, and tap Software Update. If there is a new software update available, you will see New Software Version Available. Tap Yes to proceed. If you see the message Software is up to date, you are all set and can move on to the next step. Your blue phone has many volume and sound control options. To adjust the ringer volume, simply leave the phone on hook. Then use the volume rocker bar to raise or lower the volume to your liking. Press the plus on the volume rocker bar to raise the level, or press the minus to lower the level. You should see the light bar change based on the adjustments being made. You can turn on the speakerphone by pressing the speaker button on the handset. The screen should indicate that the speaker is on. Use the volume rocker bar to raise or lower the volume to your liking. You should see the light bar change based on the adjustments being made. To adjust the handset volume during an active call, use the volume rocker bar to raise or lower the volume to your liking. You should see the light bar change based on the adjustments being made. If the light bar goes into the red zone, the volume level of your handset and speakerphone will switch over to Amplify mode. There is an option called Amplify Reset, which, when on, adjusts the volume to a safe level after each call. This is a safety feature that is on by default. However, during a call, you can utilize the Amplify button on the front of your phone to bring the volume back to the higher level you set it to previously. If the ClearCaptions Blue phone is being used only by individuals who are hard of hearing, you may wish to consider turning the Amplify Reset to Off. To do this, tap Settings on the home screen, and then select Sounds. Use the toggle to turn Amplify Reset to Off. All volume control changes will be saved, and can be updated at any time. You may notice a light flasher on top of the phone. This indicates when you have an incoming call, messages, or a missed call. To adjust the flasher, go to Settings, tap Flasher. On the next screen, you'll see Incoming Calls, New Messages, and Missed Calls. Tap the slider to the On position if you would like the flasher to show you when you have any incoming calls, new messages, or missed calls. If you would like to turn 1, 2, or all of these options off, simply tap the desired slider to the Off position. Your phone also has a Sleep Timeout function that will let you determine how long the screen will remain active before it goes dark due to inactivity. From the home screen, select Settings, and tap Display. You can increase or decrease the sleep timeout time with the arrows. Increments start at 1 minute, and can increase up to 20 minutes.
Speaker 2: To adjust the size and background color of the captioning, go to Settings, tap Phone,
Speaker 1: then select Caption Settings, followed by Captions Display. You can adjust the color and font size to your liking. Invert color options include black captions on white background, or white captions on a black background. Changes will be saved automatically, and can be adjusted at any time. Your phone has a built-in answering machine system called Blue Answering Machine, which is already set up as the primary answering service for your phone. To customize your Blue Answering Machine, select Settings, tap Phone, and then Answering Machine Settings. You have the option of setting up a personalized outbound greeting by tapping Record, or you can use the default greeting by tapping Use Default. You can tap Listen to hear your recorded greeting, or the default greeting at any time. Upon completing this process, your choices will be saved, and a new menu will appear. If you would like the white light to flash when you have a new message, make sure the slider is green and says On. On this screen, you can also set the number of rings you want before the Blue Answering Machine picks up. Options range from 2 rings up to 12. If you have an existing voicemail service, you will want to contact your telephone service provider in order to have it deactivated so there are no conflicts with your new Blue
Speaker 2: Answering Machine. On the home screen, tap Contacts, then select Add.
Speaker 1: Type in the first and last name of the contact, followed by their phone number.
Speaker 2: Contacts are then alphabetized by last name. Tap Favorites on the home screen.
Speaker 1: Tap the Customer Support button located at the top left of the Favorites screen and lift the handset. You can also find the ClearCaptions support number on the inside of your handset. You will now be able to ask a ClearCaptions customer support representative to help you with setting the volume on the speakerphone and handset. To find our help videos, tap the Help button on the home screen. Tap the topic you want to play. You can pause and restart the video by tapping the screen during playback.
