Speaker 1: Hi guys it's Chris here with selfmadenewbie.com and in this video we're going to go through an RSS.com review. If you are looking to create a podcast or if you are already a podcaster and you're looking to maybe experiment on other platforms. Yesterday I made a video and I was ranking the best podcasting platforms and I had RSS.com as my number one so I thought I'd go deeper into RSS.com and show you why it is my podcast platform of choice. So before we jump in drop a like and subscribe and hit the bell to be updated with new videos. Okay, so let's just jump right in, so what you can see here is the RSS.com website and you can see all of the features. Now when you are creating a podcast, really what do you want? You want something that is easy to use, something that is not going to cost you an arm and a leg and something that has all the features and automations you need that are going to help you to save time, especially when it comes to distribution. You don't want to be sitting there manually marketing your episodes out all the time. And that's exactly what rss.com offers. It's really like that full package. It doesn't upsell you on all kinds of features like other platforms. Really you just get everything you need. So when you come through you're going to want to sign up which is very easy and free. In the description there you might see a discount code. Actually better than a discount code. It's a free code so it discounts it to zero. So you can sign up for free for a month and try it out yourself. If you want to know what to expect follow along. So I'm going to sign in. And this is the first thing you can expect. So you don't have any podcasts yet, so we're gonna start from scratch. We're gonna create a new one. And the title, so. Description. All right. Now the RSS feed address. Now you might notice down here it says, this will be your permanent address that you cannot change. So give it some thought, and play around until you get one that works. So, I'm gonna stick with that. Language, English, explicit content, nope, and upload cover art. So I know who can help me with that. Boom, all right, let's go with that. So we have our logo, modern freedom, great, next. All right, so new podcast. We got the name, copyright, sure. And next, categories. So you can choose two categories. So I'm gonna go with entrepreneurship and how to maybe, maybe self-improvement. And let's go. And there we have it. So the podcast has been created. So we create new episodes here, public website, RSS feed. Let's look at the website. All right, so that looks pretty cool. And the episodes will show down here. So I suppose it's like any website creation, the more content you put out, the more fleshed out it's gonna look. So right now it's pretty bare, but I do like the design and it was very quick to load. So up at the top here, we have analytics as well. So we can track our downloads over all time today, the last 30 days. We've got a graph here, top five episodes, different locations. We've got our location map as well, downloads for the time and weekdays. This is important as well, so you can adjust your audience and your distribution times and whatnot. Also devices and platforms. So this is really the analytics you need when you're making adjustments, when you're saying, okay, who's listening? How long are they listening for? Where are they listening from? What are they using to listen? And then you can adjust certain things on your podcast to react or cater to your audience. So, good analytics. Distribution. Now, we have some automated distribution platforms and manual options. Now, this has got nothing to do with rss.com. This is gonna be the same on any platform that says that they have automated distribution. Some platforms allow you to automatically distribute on them, like Spotify and Amazon Music. So, when you do make an episode, you can come here and go to submit now and it will submit to all these platforms. Other ones, though, like Apple Podcasts, you do have to connect. So you go to your PodcastApple.com account, and then you get this address, paste it in here, and then every time you launch a new episode, you come through here and do the guided distribution, which really just means hitting this Submit button. The same applies for Pandora. Just hitting a Submit button, which will take you probably, what, seven seconds to do on, what, five platforms. The rest, automatic. You hit the one button, it's gonna go to all of them. We've got YouTube distribution as well, so we can do voice to video for free. A lot of platforms, they charge extra for that. RSS.com, it's just gonna give it to you. So we're gonna activate that actually, and very easy to do. So you can do that with a couple of clicks, and there's a couple of settings here that you can edit, so you can add it to playlists, visibility. I'm gonna do unlisted for now, so it doesn't just show up live on my channel. not made for kids, and you've got some perks here. It tells you why you should be distributing to YouTube. The best part though, it's automated. So that's our distribution settings done. So let's go back. The next one on the list is our monetization. So these are your monetization options. We've got Apple podcast subscriptions, so we can enable that from here as well. Donations and funding we can enable. So specify an external web address for donations and funding that will be included in your RSS feed and also displayed on your show's public website. Value for Value, a new podcasting 2.0 initiative that allows podcasters to receive real-time Bitcoin payments. So they've partnered with Albi to make it easy for you to receive Value for Value payments, also known as Boostergrams. And there's a list of supported apps there as well that you can activate, and dynamic ad insertions are coming soon. The next one is settings, of course. Enable your email in your RSS feed. Custom website you can activate and connect and link up as well. Episode order. Collaborators, you can add collaborators, which is for guests or just other people that are gonna be working with you on your podcast. And also some other podcasting 2.0 features. Location, soundbites, TXT, live item. And you can see what each of those does there. We've got pod role recommendations as well. So recommend one or more podcasts other than your own to your listeners using Podroll, and they will be visible in supporting apps and on your website as well. Copy protection, increase protection against non-authorized copies of your content. Redirect as well, so full control over your content, and you're free to redirect your show's RSS feed to a different hosting provider. So let's create an episode. So our first episode. So I have content about to go out today, which is about men's bar soaps. So why not make our episode about that? Season one and episode one. No explicit content, keywords, soap. But you can add multiple keywords, let's add another one. And so we put our podcast audio file here and then we have a logo as well up here. So we've got our logo and the audio file. So I created this a little bit earlier, so let's throw that in there. Now I just use QuickTime, which was M4A format and that uploaded fine, so let's listen to it. Hi guys, welcome to the very first episode of the Chris podcast. Today we're going to talk about the best bath soap for men. Do you need some soap? Are you a dirty birdie and you want to get clean in the shower or bath? Well then, stay tuned for this episode. We have special guest, Mr. Soapman, the inventor of soap from way back in the 1500s when it was definitely needed. Okay, so a quick 25 second clip there and I think we are good to go. So let's save that draft and that was very quick So there's our episode there so we can schedule that or publish it We can edit it or delete it now over here we have Transcript so we can create a transcript now Now that's good for two reasons. One, a large percentage of people consume content in a place where they can't have audio, maybe commuting on a train where they have to be quiet. So they watch video and listen to podcasts by looking at transcripts. Also, you can repurpose written content and put it on your social media or blog, you know, x.com or whatever. So a lot you can do with transcripts and rss.com is one of the only platforms, if not the only one I've seen, that doesn't upsell you in order to give you this functionality, it just gives it to you. So that's good as well. So let's create a transcript. You can do manual or automatic. We're gonna do automatic just to see how accurate it can do it. And we have some options here, and it's basically a trade-off between how fast do you want it to create a transcript and how accurate do you want it to be. So we're gonna go with medium. 30 minutes takes four to five minutes, so that's a 25 second clip that should be done in no time. So let's generate that. And RSS.com will send you an email when it's ready so you don't have to sit around waiting. So just click Great. And let's... And bing, there's the email. But we'll leave that for a second. The next option here is Chapters. So you put your timing in here, from to when, title, you can add another chapter image as well, chapter link. But we're gonna leave it because our clip is very small. And the next one is the Publishing to YouTube. so we are gonna do that. Now you can see though, it says, the episode must be published before you can upload it to YouTube. So let's just publish it. And you can see that's now enabled, so we're gonna publish that to YouTube. You can change the title and description on YouTube as well, but we're gonna leave it the same. And just send it over. Now you will get an email when that is done as well, so you don't really have to sit here waiting for transcripts to happen or for it to publish to YouTube. What you could do now is go ahead, back over to your distribution, and then start submitting those ones there. As for the other ones, they're already gonna be submitted automatically. So let's see how our website looks again. So there's our first episode there. So let's play it from the website. You see you've got your player down here. Hi guys, welcome to the very first episode of the Chris podcast. Today we're gonna talk about the best bar soap for men. Do you need some soap? Are you a dirty? There we go. So that's looking good. Let's see if it has published to YouTube yet. Hi guys. So it's still being processed. So that's YouTube's problem really. That's YouTube just basically uploading it. But you can see that the description and everything is as we wanted it. And also the transcript is on YouTube as well. Let's go to the transcript on rss.com, which is down here, ready for review. So the rss.com transcript is perfect. So we're gonna accept that for sure. So that's just a ton of time saved on distribution and by distribution I also mean the transcripts that are created as well. So I'm really happy and really impressed that that was created with 100% accuracy. All right, so that's basically it. If you are looking to create a podcast, think about what you really need. You need something that's easy, something that's not gonna cost you money to distribute, something that you can make money on, it has monetization options, analytics options, so you can constantly refine what you're doing. And also, you want something to save you time, especially in the area of distribution. So the transcripts that are free, the ability to be able to publish automatically on all those platforms, that's just gonna make your life so much easier and it's gonna free up so much more time. Now, if you are looking for a podcasting platform, as I said in yesterday's video and I'm saying in this video, it's definitely, definitely worth your time to check out rss.com. It is really the best platform. And the best part is you can go in the description there, like I said earlier, and you have that, not discount code, but free code. Take that code, click on the link, go to rss.com, sign up, use the code, and use it for a month for free. See if you can create a podcast faster than I just did, which if I wasn't making a video, would probably be around about three or four minutes, to be honest, to get set up. Feel free to use chatGVT for your logos as well, because mine are pretty cool, if I do say so myself. If you have any questions, of course, as well, drop them down below in the comments. And if you found value in this video, it really helps if you drop a like and subscribe, and I'll see you on the next one. Take care. and I'll see you in the next video. Peace out.
