Speaker 1: How do you write your HR strategy for 2023 and what should be included? Hi, welcome to the Let's Talk Talent channel where we discuss the world of HR and talent management. We're here to help you unlock the potential in your people. So when writing an HR strategy for 2023, it's like writing any HR strategy. You need to start with your exam question and your ultimate goal is to get, keep and grow great people. So what are the building blocks and what are the work streams that you should be considering in 2023? Well, for me, they haven't really changed from 2022, if I'm honest with you. So the first is EVP. Now, it might sound flashy and it might sound a bit whizzy and a bit jazz hands, but ultimately, it's your shop window. And when you think about how you get great people, your EVP is really an important part of that. So make sure that you're explaining why you exist, what people can do and how they do it. So EVP would be my number one theme. The second would be around career development. So we're working with loads of organisations at the moment, thinking about how they navigate the world of careers and how they keep and grow great people and career pathways is an important component of that. So that should be in your HR strategy, but it's not just thinking about it in isolation. You want to show people the art of the possible, but you also want to link that to competency frameworks around what people need to know and how they need to do it. But it also links to performance management, succession planning and even your L&D budget. So career pathways, making sure you're keeping and growing great people, super important. And the third element is wellbeing. And we all know that we've all had a huge amount of change and change is a constant. And some people are really resilient and can bounce back. Other people need more nurture and care. As an organisation, it should be in anyone's HR strategy. But for 2023, when we don't know what the winter is going to hold, I would really expect you to dial it up. So think about how you might create some coaching, how you might create some communities of practice, how you might upskill your managers and leaders to really care and create that connection for people. And before I forget, the final part would be managers and leaders. Your managers and leaders play an important part in how you drive your business and how you drive your culture. Investing in management and leadership is not about expensive programmes, but it's really making sure that they understand the deal. What does management mean in your business and how are you activating that? So those are the four elements, EVP, careers, wellbeing, management and leadership. Go back and have a look at your HR strategy for 2023. If it's not in it, think about how you might dial it up and where you might get that support. We'd love to hear from you. So do get in touch. Of course, these are only four elements that could be in your HR strategy for 2023. I'm sure you've got more. I'd love to hear from you. So please leave your comments below.
