Speaker 1: Hey there, this is Patrice Washington from patricewashington.com, where we chase purpose, not money. Now, if you run a business, I know that it's difficult enough just running a business, but what adds to that is having to manage a team, especially if you have to manage that team virtually like I do. So today I wanted to share with you the four tools that have helped me run a virtual team pretty successfully for the last three years now. The first one is Zoom. It's a web conferencing system. And what has really helped my team feel united, because we are all over the country, is having a weekly team meeting every single Monday where we can talk about what's going on in the business. Even if you're discussing things that don't necessarily have to deal with other people on the team, it's still helpful to create a cohesive environment so that everyone feels included and like they know what's going on in the business. It's really important to have buy-in, and Zoom is one of the tools that has helped create that for me. Now another tool that I swear by right now is called Slack. And Slack is a collaboration tool that allows you to communicate on different channels. Have you ever tried to communicate with your team and you just get tired of the back and forth with emails? You can't remember who said what, who commented on what document? Slack is one of those places where you can create a channel for every category in your business. So for example, I have a channel for travel, or a channel for customer service, or business development, or even content. And it really helps us stay organized and make sure that everyone can get to the conversation that they need to be a part of. So Slack is definitely a two thumbs up for me. And what I really like about Slack too is that it integrates with different apps. So it can integrate with your Dropbox, or even Google Drive, which leads me to my next favorite tool. Back in the day, I don't know about you guys, but I would create a document in WordDoc, send it to someone on my team, they might make some changes, email it back, and it became this back and forth. And even in Dropbox, if we would upload a new version, it was still kind of hard keeping up with all the versions. What I love about Google Drive is being able to share information on one document and track the changes. I love being able to see my team members literally make changes in real time, so that everyone is on the same page, and we all have the most recent version of whatever document or project we're working on. So last but not least, another tool that has been really beneficial to my virtual team is Dashlane, and that's a password manager. So it's been really helpful to me to be able to share login information with people on my team without actually disclosing the real password. Now this was really key to me, and it would probably be helpful to you, but it started for me because my site was hacked, and several of my passwords were compromised, and it really became too hard to keep up with which team member had which password, and if people decided to move on, or if things didn't work out and I had to let them go, trying to remember what passwords they had and having to change it all. By using Dashlane, I can change passwords with one click, and I can give access to different team members as they need it, with limited rights or full rights. So it's been truly, truly a blessing to the business. Now I want to hear from you. If you're working within a virtual team, or you manage a virtual team, what tools do you guys use to communicate? And what are some of the practices that you've had to put in place to make sure that the team is cohesive and successful together? This is really important to share this information, guys, because I'm building a community of women who want to grow with me. And that means you want to live your life's purpose, find fulfillment, and earn more without ever chasing money.
