Speaker 1: Hey guys, Tim from Let's Shout out here. Today we're going to talk about Tigerfish Transcription. It's one of the many transcription companies online. It's a legitimate company. They've been founded and running since 1989. And if you're looking for an online transcriptionist job, there's a lot of companies out here, but this is one that's kind of popular. I want to talk about how they work, how much you can get paid, as well as if it's worth your time. And it's all my videos. I like to be 100% honest. So whether you're looking for a full-time, part-time, or flexible job, let's see if this is something to consider. Okay, so let's first talk about transcription and who the Tigerfish Transcription company is. As you already know, you probably know how transcription works. You listen to an audio file and you type what you hear, basically. And with this company, they have a variety of clients that they work with. You can see right here, they have video production, conventions, legal, and so forth. So there's a little bit of everything. Some transcription companies only focus, say, on legal or healthcare. This isn't the case here. So there's a lot of options to work from here. And in terms of them being legitimate, they are a very legitimate company. They're not as big as the many transcription companies I've talked about before, but a little About Us page here just says that they've been in San Francisco's North Beach area for over 20 years. They're also local to New York, as well. So if you're interested in working for a smaller company that doesn't hire as often, let me talk about the requirements, as well as what you can expect in terms of getting paid. Okay, so if you're interested, you're going to have to go to the application online. I'll link it in the description, as well, as I always do. And it says, Applications and inquiries, jobs are accepted via email only. Do not call the company. That's going to probably put you in a bad spot anyway. So email only. Applications for the transcription jobs are reviewed on a periodic basis. So unfortunately, due to the volume, which a lot of these companies do receive a lot of applications, your response is going to be delayed. So in terms of requirements, if you are a quick typist with a good ear for language and a strong sense of written English, then it could be a way to earn money. As mentioned, they were founded in 1989. Some transcribers have been with them more than a decade. And it goes on to here. For requirement-wise, in order to transcribe, you do need to be a US citizen or legal resident. You do need that high-speed internet access, a telephone number where you can regularly be reached, a computer, of course. And it needs to be Windows-based because the Macs, unfortunately, are not compatible with their software they use. And you'll need a copy of ExpressScribe transcription software. And you can download that for free. There's a link right here. That's all that you need in terms of requirements. There's no, you need 10 years of experience or you need to type 100 words per minute, which is nice. There's no word as to how much experience you need, but you will need to pass a test. Keep that in mind. That's how a lot of transcription companies work. So getting started here, before you even apply, you do need to download the style guide and take time to read it. Every transcription company has a style guide, and it's important that you know what kind of style these companies want. If you don't study it, you're not going to pass the test. So study that style guide. It's not too long, but you're going to want to know it before you take the test. Next, you're going to want to see that sample of your transcribing. Every company wants to ask for a sample. They wanted to see if your grammar is good, if you can put together things according to their style guide. And what you'll do is you'll click here to download an audio file of the test, save it to the computer. And if you can't play it back, as mentioned, you're going to need ExpressScribe anyway, so download that. Everything is about three to five-minute segments representing a typical transcription material, such as a focus group and interview, as well as a presentation, separated. And then they want you to break down the segment. You will not get paid for this test, but they do require you to do it. If you don't do it, they're not even going to consider you. So scroll through here. Email looks something like this. And when you do submit it all, then you're going to have to wait for them to hear back, if you even do hear back. Again, they receive a lot of applications, so you're going to find that you might be in a lot of competition, depending on when you apply. In terms of what they pay review-wise, I couldn't find much. I did see the Glassdoor site. They had one reviewer. They did give it a five-star. It says, great workplace environment, hardworking, and so forth. So from what I can see and the reviews I could find, it seemed okay. And in terms of pay, even if you Google how much they pay, typical rates usually are about three to four cents a line, or about almost a penny a word. That's usually typical. And this is what it's going to be about, average-wise, at almost any transcription company. If you're on one of the higher-tiered companies, eight to ten plus an hour, maybe 12, 15, if you could type fast. You can see that most people don't know. Everyone just has about the same average, including myself. So if you're looking for a job with a transcription company online, this is one that's okay. They're not huge, but they can maybe make you some money if you get on board. It seems like more of a small family-type company, but I don't know if they'll have a ton of work because they're just not as well-known as some of the bigger companies like Rev.com and others. So if you do want to find other transcription companies, as always, go to LushDollar.com. I have other ways to make money, including transcription, as well as 100-plus other ways to make money. From making a dollar to hundreds, it's just up to you. As always, I'll keep adding videos and content as much as I can. I just created this channel, as well as the website, to inform you guys. That's what I'm going to keep doing. So that being said, like, comment, subscribe. It always helps me out. Thanks for watching. I'll see you guys next time. Bye.
