Speaker 1: If you've been thinking about hosting a webinar for the first time, you might be thinking, I've got to sign up for one of these fancy platforms and learn complicated software. But what if I told you you could host a webinar with a platform you probably use several times a day? In fact, you might be using it right now. I'm talking about YouTube, and in this video, I'll walk you through some easy steps for using it to live stream your webinar. Let's get into it. Hello, creators. I'm Ben Tulson from Podio, where we empower creators like you to make a living doing what you love. YouTube is a powerful but easy to use tool for hosting a webinar, especially if you're just starting out. Before we get started, I want to share some of the things you'll need to have before you can run a webinar with YouTube. You'll need a laptop or a PC, unless you plan to stream from your smartphone, which we'll get into, a webcam, a USB microphone, and a verified YouTube channel. If you don't already have a webcam or USB microphone, you can check out my recommendations in this video where I talk about all the gear you'll need to get started with webinars. Now, let me tell you what I mean by verified YouTube channel. Anyone can set up a YouTube channel and upload videos without having to verify it, but in order to unlock certain features like live streaming, you have to get your channel verified. Fortunately, this isn't too difficult. From your channel page, if you click on the create a video or post button and then click go live, it'll say live streaming isn't available right now, and then it'll automatically load an account verification screen. From here, you can have a code either sent to you via voicemail or text message. Once you receive the code and submit it, click the continue button and you'll be taken to your status and features page. From here, find the live streaming section and click enable. Live streaming takes 24 hours to activate and then you're good to go. If you want to stream from your smartphone, you'll need to make sure your account is verified, but you also have to meet YouTube's eligibility requirement of 1,000 subscribers before live streaming is available from your smartphone. Fortunately, there's no subscriber minimum for streaming from a PC. Now, I'm going to take you through how to set up your webinar live stream through YouTube, first on PC and second on your smartphone. Let's start with setting it up on your PC. First, click the create a video or post button in the upper right of your screen and click go live. This will take you to the live streaming page and automatically have you on the webcam tab. From here, type in your webinar title and set your webinar to unlisted, unless you plan to make it a public event for your YouTube subscribers. Click the schedule for later toggle and select the date and time you plan to do your webinar. I'm having you schedule your webinar ahead of time so you can share the stream URL, which I'll talk about in a moment. Now, click more options to add a description and to select which camera and microphone you'd like to use. Now, click next and get ready to smile for the camera. If you're not a fan of your thumbnail, you can hover your mouse over the picture and either retake the thumbnail or upload a custom thumbnail. Once you've done that, click the share button and copy the stream URL link so you can share it with your audience. Now, click done and your stream will be saved. You'll automatically be taken to the manage section, but to get there in the future, you'll click on the create a video or post button, click go live, and then click the manage tab to see your saved stream. When you're ready to go live, just click on your live stream and then click go live. Running a live stream from your smartphone is even simpler. From your YouTube app, click the create video or post button and then click live. This will automatically start your camera and allow you to fill in the details. Type in your webinar title, set your webinar to unlisted, again, unless you want this to be a public event. Scroll down and click on more options, then scroll back up and type in your description and then scroll down to the bottom and click the schedule for later toggle and select the day and time for your webinar. Now, click next and smile for the camera. You can click the edit button on your thumbnail to retake or upload a thumbnail from your phone, then click done. You'll notice a calendar icon with a notification badge in the upper right. If you click on it, you'll see your scheduled stream. When you're ready to go live, click on your stream and click go live. Both PC and mobile live streams have a live chat feature so your webinar viewers can ask questions and share comments. When you're done with your webinar, YouTube will automatically save the video so you can share the playback in the future. Now you should be all set to host your first live webinar. If you have any questions about anything we covered in this video, please leave them in the comments below. If you plan to host a webinar, what kind of information do you plan to share or what topic will you cover? Let me know in the comments. If you found this video helpful and you want more content like this, click the subscribe button and hit the notification bell so you'll be sure not to miss any future videos. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you next time.
