Speaker 1: Hi, in this video we're going to show you how to set up voice typing or voice to text in Windows, and that way you could use your microphone and talk and have your computer dictate it for you. So if you want to work on a document, rather than type it out, you could just speak it and Windows will actually type it out for you as you speak. So in order to do this, you're going to have to turn some stuff on. So to begin, you want to go to your Windows settings, and then find the Time and Language section. Then you want to go down to Speech. Now here's the Get Started part to set up your microphone, so click on Get Started. So what I like to do is click on Cortana Can't Hear Me, and then you could pick your microphone. You've got to find it in the list. If you have more than one audio device, you'll be listed here. So this is my microphone, so I'll click on Next. Then I want to set up the mic. Now it's going to give me a sentence to read, and then I'll read it aloud, then I'll use that to help me set it up. Peter talks to his computer. He prefers it to typing, and particularly prefers it to pen and paper. Okay, so it says my microphone is set up and fixed, so click Close. Now the next thing you want to do is go to this Speech Privacy Settings section here, and make sure this is turned on, because it's probably turned off by default. So Use Your Voice for Dictation and Other Apps Using Microsoft's Online Speech Recognition Technology, and blah, blah, blah. Okay, so once that's on, you could go to Word or whatever you want to type into, and the key is to use the Windows key on your keyboard and H to activate the dictation feature, so I'll do that. Now you can see we have this microphone on, period. Now I could use a period to end the sentence, period. Can I ask a question, question mark? This is great, exclamation point. So you can see it works pretty good, and it actually didn't capitalize the sentences at first, but then it did afterwards, period. So now that I'm done, I'll do Windows H again, okay, so now we have it turned off, so like I said, back and forth, Windows H, Windows H, I thought I said Windows 8. So anyways, yeah, so just like I said, follow those steps to enable your microphone and test it, and then turn on this setting under the Privacy Settings for Speech Recognition, and then Windows key and H on your keyboard to turn it on, and Windows key and H to turn it off. Simple as that. All right, thanks for watching, and be sure to subscribe.
