+1 (831) 222-8398Speaker 1: When was the last time you conducted an employee performance evaluation session? It's really an imperative function for any business owner or manager and employees expect it. I've updated my employee performance evaluation template which makes it easy to conduct that session and I'm going to share that in this video. Hello, I'm Steven Goldberg of Optimist Performance bringing you practical tips on leadership, team development and employee performance in the workplace. I know that many business owners and managers avoid doing employee performance evaluations and there's perhaps several reasons. One of them is they lack the knowledge and skills to do it. Another one is just not enough time, too busy putting out fires. Maybe employees are reluctant because you haven't done it on a regular basis. Whatever the reason is, it's a really important function. I like to use the analogy I've used in the past of going bowling. Everybody knows the game of bowling. Now imagine rolling the ball down the alley and just before the ball hits the pins, a curtain comes down blocking your view to see how many pins have fallen. It really takes the enjoyment out of the game and of course that doesn't happen and today you have electronics that records your score. But there's an excitement in seeing how many pins you hit, did you get a strike, whatever. So it's the same thing for employee performance. People want to know how they're doing and so you need to get over that reluctance or whatever stands in your way to do that employee performance evaluation. There are many benefits to both you, the leader, the organization and the employees to get on the same page and make sure that you're aligned in terms of how the employee is performing. People will feel that they're being recognized, that they know where they stand, things are clear and that there's also a development plan in place to help them grow. And that's where my new template comes in. Now I've added an instruction sheet on page one which explains how to use the form and how to conduct the session. Then there's the template itself which includes five classic or basic competencies which is all you really need to do or use to evaluate the employee performance. The biggest benefit is just sitting down and having a conversation, building that relationship, building that trust. And then on page three I've included my KSS worksheet which is what the employee should keep doing, what they should stop doing and what they should start doing. So that makes it a complete form for not only evaluating the performance but also to work out a plan for development. Now further to this I'm also working on a full training, an e-learning training with deep instructions, videos that will help you to prepare for that employee performance evaluation session and make sure that you're ready and so is the employee to have a great experience and reap the full benefits from this activity. So check that out. If you haven't already subscribed, please do so now so you get news of new videos like these new forms and templates that I'm making available for free.
