Speaker 1: Let's take a look at social media video sizes and ratios and how to repurpose videos across platforms. Hey everyone, I'm Dom from Wondershare Unit Converter and knowing in what format you have to make videos for different social media platforms can help you optimize content and thus get more popular. Different platforms have different requirements in terms of video sizes of which the most common ones are the following. 16 to 9 which is widescreen and usually with pixel dimensions of 1920 x 1080 full HD or more commonly today 4k 3840 x 2160. Then square video format where the ratio is 1 to 1 with pixel dimensions of 1080 x 1080 usually. When it comes to 4k it's obviously 2160 x 2160. Then 4 to 5 which is in between vertical and horizontal ratios usually 1080 x 1350. And finally a full vertical format 19 to 16 either 1080 x 1920 or 2160 x 3840 when we talk about 4k videos. So when do we use each? Let's break it down by video platforms. First and foremost YouTube. Mostly focuses on widescreen horizontal ratios most common being 16 to 9 in full HD or 4k but it allows other ratios as well from ultra widescreen to vertical with YouTube Shorts. Now for YouTube Shorts it's 9 to 16 in all cases and under one minute in video length. For regular videos though there is no video length limit. The next up is Facebook. Most people use Facebook on their phones but it has to look good on desktop as well. So the most recommended video size is 1 to 1 or 4 to 5 ratio. When it comes to ads the best one to use is 4 to 5. Regarding video length limitations there are some on Facebook as you can see in this chart but if you're making short form videos the best is to have it around one minute. Instagram. Here we have to make a difference between videos for the feed, IGTV slash Reels and stories. Videos for the feed should either be 1 to 1 or 4 to 5 so they fit nicely among images. For IGTV slash Reels it's 9 to 16 but in the video focus more on the 4 to 5 area as you'll have other image elements in the top and in the bottom so what's important need to be in this area in the middle. The maximum video length on Instagram can be up to 60 minutes but the ideal for Reels is around one minute or less. When it comes to stories it's obviously full vertical 9 to 16 ratio. TikTok is fairly similar to Instagram Reels as the aspect ratio for the videos is best to be 9 to 16 or 1 to 1 and you can upload videos up to 10 minutes. However it's best to stay within one minute especially between 15 to 30 seconds. The optimal resolution for TikTok videos is 1080 times 1920. And lastly Twitter. Twitter allows you to upload videos that are 140 seconds long at max but you can do that in a variety of aspect ratios. The best one however is 16 to 9 with the maximum resolution being 1280 times 720. Now if you're somebody who creates videos for various platforms here are some tips for repurposing videos. Number one. Shoot with your plans in mind. Shoot in 4k and with a wider angle of view so you could crop in afterwards. If your camera allows guide frames it's also a good idea to use them. Number two. Fill the entire frame with the video. When you can't add elements to the rest of the frame like headlines, tags or logos that would serve the viewer with additional information. Number three. Consider sound of viewers by adding burden subtitles. Number four. Find a good workflow. If you create for horizontal and vertical platforms as well make the horizontal one first. And number five. Customize the call to action elements for each platform. And so what I mean is that don't leave like a subscribe button in a TikTok or Instagram real video. Now a tool that you can use to repurpose videos is the auto crop tool in the uniconverter. It's a tool that you can use to automatically crop videos for other social media platforms and it will keep what's important automatically in the center. Let's take a look at how to use it. You can access the crop tool from the tools menu within the uniconverter. Import a video file you want to change the aspect ratio of. On the right side of the interface make sure that the adjust frame is selected and then choose a preset aspect ratio and a motion speed. The tool will then analyze the video and will keep what's important in the center. If you need to adjust the frame manually you can add keyframes and move the frame to the right spot. And then of course when you're done you can export the video. Additionally you can use the converter tool of the uniconverter to convert videos for social media. When it comes to changing the size of a video it's simple and fast with the converter tool of the uniconverter. You can download the uniconverter using the link below. So give it a try you won't regret it. But that is all for this video. Leave a thumbs up if you found it helpful and subscribe to the channel for more content related to video making. With that being said thank you so much for watching and I'm gonna see you in the next video.
