Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to another in my series on audio on The Visual Agent. My name is Philip Cake and today I'm going to be talking about doing a voiceover. And I have my setup here that I typically use for voiceovers and this is a blue Yeti microphone. It has several different patterns that you can set on this microphone. Very popular for podcasts and more people are doing videoconferencing so it's an excellent addition if you're thinking about you know just wanting to sound better while you're doing your videoconferencing. As well as I have it on a stand here because I like to stand up when I do voiceovers. I think you sound better you project better and most of the time when you see actors in a sound studio doing film voiceovers or things like that they're standing up. This is a little pop screen reduces that pop pop pop sound that you get and so I set this up. This microphone can be wired directly via USB into my computer and so while I'm editing after I've done an edit rather I can hit a voiceover box and I can record the voiceover directly into my editing program and I can avoid I can edit the voice because just like that if there's something in there that I want to take out chop out a section or use a different take then I can do that a little bit easier rather than using a separate recording device. But you could use a separate recording device even a little pocket voice recorder might work well. But I think most importantly getting yourself in a good comfortable comfortable position and I know you're probably thinking well what about your hair but you're just doing audio so forget about your hair. And I made myself a little bit of tea in my favorite cup it says believe in yourself. A little bit of honey and lemon and also just to kind of show you my setup this is a Rode VideoMic Pro that's recording the audio for this video is wired directly into my camera and I have another processing unit on the camera that I can record that I can adjust the sound volume on with that. So and the process that I use is I'm going to be recording I want to do a voiceover track of an email that our own Patrick Carlyle an analyst here at Compass I really like his emails and it's a email it's a it's an email that quotes Charlie Munger he's a vice president of Berkshire Hathaway. So what I've done is I've taken the email and copied and pasted into a word program and then set the spacing so I'll be able to read it more easily when I do the recording of the voiceover. So that's my process and I hope you found that helpful if you're going to be doing videos and voiceovers are a great way to add some different types of environments to your videos that are great to have over b-roll. So hope you found this helpful if you enjoyed the video please give me a thumbs up, leave a comment below, subscribe to my channel so you get notified of all the new content and thanks for watching.
