Speaker 1: Do you need to break up with the traditional sponsorship package structure of gold, silver, and bronze? The answer is yes. 100% yes. Instead of Googling how to make a sponsorship package, you need to have an actual conversation with the company that you're pitching to. Hey there, I'm Megan Meyer, former two-time NHRA Drag Racing World Champion, and my background in marketing and graphic design led me to start my own business as a one-stop marketing shop for race teams. I help racers like you accelerate their social media to grow a following and get noticed by potential sponsors, because a successful racer knows more than just how to drive. So click on that subscribe button below if you're ready to stay up to date with motorsports marketing tips and social media tricks that I have for you. As always, leave your questions down in the comments and check out the description below for links and timestamps to skip through, because I know how valuable your time is and why you're here, so buckle up and make sure you watch until the end of the video so that you can catch everything I'm about to teach you. You are totally capable of landing dream sponsors, but doing what has always been done isn't going to be enough to get you there. In this video, we will be covering why you should be avoiding the old-school three-tier pitching structure, as well as what you should consider doing instead. First off, it's not customizable. When every potential sponsor gets exactly the same deck structure with the same exposure options, you know, the your logo here, you are missing out on meeting the company where they are at in their advertising journey. So every company is different, just like how every racer is different, and creating target-specific packages just for them shows that you've done your homework and you truly value working with them. And second, it's not affordable for you. Look, I get charging for your expenses like your entry fee, tires, and gas, but this list only shoots you in the foot. You'll break even even after you pay for those things. There will be nothing left for you to pocket for your time and expertise. And third, it's old school. If we're being honest, this sponsorship package structure is just outdated at this point. It's been tried so many times that it's no longer really serving its best purpose. It'll come off as lazy or naive to pitch sponsors with this style of packaging. So what should you do instead? You want to pitch the right mix of assets at the best price for them or give them a menu of all your assets to pick and choose from, just like when you're at a restaurant. Your assets are what you can offer to a potential sponsor. So for example, logo placement on your race car or your fire suit, but also a hyperlink on your website, a testimonial video on social media, hospitality in your pits, a car show with a contest, doing sampling at a store, the list goes on and on. You can't seek out sponsorships if you don't have assets to sell to them. It's more than just putting the sticker on the side of your car and calling it a day. You must be creative and find ways to stand out from everyone else. Building up an inventory of assets and figuring out how you can connect your potential sponsors to your audience beyond simply putting a logo on your car. But if you stack your package so that only your top level, your gold level, has the best assets to offer, you really risk strong-arming the sponsor or alienating them. If they don't want everything that you packaged into a tier or they simply can't afford that level that has everything they want, you're likely to just lose them all together. So here's your next step to get this journey going. Reach out to sponsors you've worked with in the past or that you have right now and ask them what has worked and what they liked working about with you and ask them what could be improved for the future. So this feedback is your best friend to develop your systems to winning the sponsors you've always dreamt of. If you found this video helpful, make sure you give it a thumbs up. That way YouTube knows to share it with other racers like you who are looking for motorsports marketing tips.
