Speaker 1: My name is Alberto Martinez, I'm the Corporate Director for Supply Chain Logistics and Distribution. This facility, we finished building it in 2014. It's 151,000 square feet located in Doral, Florida, centralized between the four counties that we operate, Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe County.

Speaker 2: Baptist is 11 hospitals strong now. I started working for Baptist 35 years ago. My name is Dale Adamson, and I'm the Assistant Vice President of Supply Chain Services. We're a faith-based organization, and we take good care of our community.

Speaker 1: Our business has a purpose, and our purpose is basically to deliver supplies to those who need it. The items in this warehouse, a box is not just a box, it's a life-safety item, and some way, shape, or form, either you or your loved ones are going to be using those.

Speaker 3: As far as us here at the CDSC, it's all a family, we understand that we signed up to serve our community.

Speaker 1: I think that's what makes our organization and our warehouse very different from any other warehouse that's out there.

Speaker 2: Our distribution center delivers essentially in a 24-hour window. You place a requisition to us any time throughout the day, as long as that requisition is in the system by 3 o'clock, we will pick it and deliver it for the next day.

Speaker 1: So we pick around 10,000 individual lines in our low unit of measure process, and that

Speaker 4: is a same-day process. I think the biggest challenge that we face is really the variety of supplies that we have to maintain and support. In healthcare, we run the gamut, everything from a band-aid to syringes.

Speaker 1: We deliver every single day to about 120 different stops. We began this operation in 2015, we went live, and at the time, we were picking on paper, and then we realized, you know, this is not going to be sustainable. We would lose orders, we would lose efficiencies, we would lose processes. Imagine sending out medical supplies to a facility and not sending the right product. We realized we need to do something better, and this is why we started looking at technologies like Lucas.

Speaker 4: Voice picking immediately became a technology to explore, and Lucas was a leader in terms of providing that technology independently.

Speaker 2: So we use Lucas for lump picking, bulk picking, and replenishment throughout. So Lucas helps us with accuracy, it's based on check strings, and so when you go to a location and you want to pick something, there's a five-digit code. It's either going to be the first three numbers, the last three numbers, or every other number. I just know we're more accurate today because of the check string process.

Speaker 1: And that number jumped up to 99.99.5.

Speaker 5: 2-8-Bravo-1.

Speaker 6: Sheriff, what is quantity?

Speaker 5: Grab 2.

Speaker 6: 2-8-7.

Speaker 5: 2-8-7, invalid. 2-8-Bravo-1.

Speaker 6: 6-0-3.

Speaker 5: Pick 2 case. Grab 2.

Speaker 7: You know, from the time I clock in at 7 o'clock until I clock out at 7.30, Jennifer is on my head. She's my best friend.

Speaker 3: Learning Jennifer was extremely easy.

Speaker 7: To be honest, it didn't take much time.

Speaker 3: It takes our new hires about one shift to learn Jennifer.

Speaker 7: It took me maybe two weeks to be in the top five, so Jennifer really made it very easy for me.

Speaker 1: Our low unit of measure operation picked at an average of 50 lines per hour. When we implemented LUCAS, it just skyrocketed. And in today's world, our minimum average lines per hour per picker is 100. And we even have some employees picking in the 140s to 150s range. So we tripled our efficiencies in some aspects.

Speaker 4: Yeah, the partnership has been terrific. Really there hasn't been a huge need for support, but the support has been there when we needed

Speaker 6: it. Anybody interested in using LUCAS, I would tell them, use LUCAS right away. It'll just make it that much easier, that much faster.

Speaker 7: It's better with Jennifer. It's better with Jennifer.

Speaker 6: It's better with Jennifer.
