Speaker 1: Hi, in this video I'll be signing up on Gotranscript and doing the Gotranscript transcription test. So Gotranscript transcription jobs are available worldwide. We pay competitive rates for our online transcription jobs, so they pay up to $0.60 per audio or video minute, $150 average earnings per month, $1,215 top monthly earnings. Please note that buying and selling a Gotranscript account is illegal. If you buy an account, you will lose money because we have implemented safeguards to prevent illegal account purchases. So there's SMS verification, face photo during registration, real-time photo with verification code written on paper. So it's going to be very difficult for people to buy and sell Gotranscript accounts. So just going to click on apply now and choose English. I had already created the account and that is why I have been brought directly to this web page. To apply for transcriber position, you must complete quiz 100% correct using our guidelines. Each question can have one or more correct answers. So I'm just going to click on guidelines. So here are Gotranscript transcription guidelines. I will go through them and probably highlight anything that stands out to me. To work on GT, you must have a PayPal or Payoneer account as we make payments only with PayPal or Payoneer. Payments are made every weekend on Friday. Also, we cover the PayPal fee so you will receive the exact amount which you earned and there will be no fee to receive payment. Once you start working with GT, if your average rating is better than 4.5, you can try to become an editor. Another thing, use US that is American spelling and they've told us you can also use Grammarly. So here where they are explaining how we should transcribe full verbatim, they've actually given a sample transcript so you can refine just to see how a full verbatim transcript looks like. And under clean verbatim, there is a note here, omit all the yeah, yes reactions to retain affluent text unless they are answers to given questions and do not remove filler words if they change the meaning of the phrase. And there are more examples here. This is full verbatim and this is clean verbatim. So this one, you do not remove anything. You transcribe the text as it is, but this one should remove some things explained up here. So I'm at the major rules part and a bunch of things turned out. Obviously we have normal things like tags, you know you're supposed to put tags when speech cannot be heard due to poor recording or noise and use an intelligible plus the timestamp when speech can be heard but it cannot be understood due to the speaker's manner of speech accent, it is C. We've also been advised or rather we've been instructed that when a speaker is using conjunctions like and so or but to connect longer stretches of thought, it's often a good idea to create sentence divisions in those places. Don't forget to cut out the conjunctions in those places when they are not necessary. So when someone is speaking and their sentence is kind of long and they keep connecting one sentence to another using and so or but you can definitely split that into a number of sentences and do away with the so but and and and that is exactly what they've said here. Divide sentences in a way that the meaning is clearest to the reader. Longer speeches should be separated into smaller paragraphs of three to four lines except lyrics. Everything with a timestamp that is an intelligible inaudible pause should be bolded. So nothing else besides the speaker labels and marks with timestamps should be bolded. And obviously we all know that in transcription we use square brackets. Well unless there's a company that uses different, I don't know. Never change spoken contractions y'all ain't, don't, can't, it's etc. So these ones we just write them as they are. Occasionally customers dictate instructions to format the transcription while they are speaking. So these instructions should be followed when possible but never transcribed. So follow the instructions of the customer but do not transcribe them. If a speaker spells a word or a name example my name is Anna this is how you should type Anna with dashes. Another interesting instruction italicize film, book, magazine, song titles as well as artworks, plays, tv and radio programs, foreign expressions etc. But there's no need to italicize social media sites, company names, the bible, books within the bible, versions of it or other sacred writings. Times of the day and dates always capitalize a.m. and p.m. Do not use a.m. p.m. in small letters. So when to use double dashes or a single dash. So use double dashes when there's a change of thought that's a false start or a speech error or to mark an incomplete sentence. This is how you should do it. I went to the bank on Tuesday, no Friday. So that is when you use the double dashes. When to use the single dash when the speech is interrupted in a conversation but the speaker continues his thought and there's an elaborate example for us here. So those are the things that actually stood out to me. Obviously the whole document is very very important and you should go through every instruction like from one to I think 28 in order to be adequately prepared for the test. So they've actually said that if you do not prepare the transcriptions according to these requirements you might be removed from the team and here is how they actually read the transcribers work. So there's also something very interesting if a new transcriber finishes three transcriptions and has 3.6 or a lower average rating he or she will be removed from the team. Now that I'm done going through the guidelines it's time to handle this multiple choice questions and I have actually read the questions and you can get answers directly from the guidelines. So this part should not be a problem. So now I'm done with this and I'm just going to click on confirm. Perfect seems I have passed the first part of the test. Now I am on to the second part. To become a transcriber you must do our test job using our guidelines. You need to transcribe the audio below. In other words you need to type everything that you hear. Don't forget to use our transcription rules. The test job needs to be done in clean verbatim without timestamping. So no timestamps. If you want you can try doing the old test. There you will see what errors you have made. I don't know whether to do the old test first and then come back to this later or to just go ahead and do this one. I have decided to just do the test so I've just listened to this test audio and it's 3 minutes 30 seconds long that's doable. I've seen that you can actually download the audio and this is where you control the playback speed. We have the guidelines here but I have them open already. Down here we have a bunch of keyboard shortcuts that will probably make someone's work easier when transcribing. I will now get started on transcribing the audio and see whether I will make it. So the audio quality is very low like there is a lot of background noise, phones ringing and all that so hopefully I'll be able to crack it. So I'm done working on the transcript as you can see I have taken around three to four hours to work on the transcript because I like to be thorough. I actually downloaded the audio because I saw a download option but I ended up not using that audio for anything because the background was so noisy. Even using otter wouldn't have helped. So this is what I have come up with though there's a part that was really really troubling me and that is the sound events part. So in the guidelines they've told us that sound events that are significant to the audio should also be noted. Sounds that the speaker makes are always on the same line so if the speaker snaps a finger, the phone rings, laughs, chuckles and all that and then chorus, laughter, applause, cheering that has nothing not made by the speaker including phone ringing, coughing etc are always on a separate line but this whole audio had a very noisy background. It's like the person is in a very busy environment so there's a bunch of things going on and you can't really make out what's happening but there's a lot of noise. There was a phone that was constantly ringing. I figured that phone ringing had nothing to do with the audio honestly I just don't think it has anything to do with the audio so I didn't note the phone ringing. I don't know that that's a problem because I was torn between adding it and not adding it anyway. So that was my trial for the good transcript transcription test. They say here that once you send us the completed test the reviewing process can take up to 60 days. Once our team checks your test you will get an email letting you know whether you passed or not. So I'm just going to go ahead and click on send it for review and by the way I have done a similar video on the transcribe me exam the transcribe me english entrance exam so be sure to check it out after this video but let's click on send it for review and see whether I hear if you have failed they will let you know immediately. So let's see the outcome of this particular test. Thanks for applying. Reviewing process can take up to 60 days but for those who will share our job offer it will take up to 30 days. So now that I've already shared it I'll just click on close. You have finished the test. Wait while we check it we will send you an email with your results. So guys who have done this test before and passed or not passed do let me know how long it took to hear back from Gotranscript after submitting the test. Other than the noisy background the audio was pretty much doable. I could hear like three quarter or almost everything the lady was saying. I used to think Gotranscript test audios were super difficult in terms of the audio quality but this one was pretty friendly all factors considered. So just let me know how has your Gotranscript experience been. Have you been accepted? Was it hard? Was the audio you got of very low quality? Was it doable?
