Speaker 1: In this video, we're talking all about how to create passive income by selling advertising in your self-published magazine. Hi, I'm Gendivore Richter. Forbes Books calls me the mother of the magazine funnel because I've created unique ways for entrepreneurs to monetize their own self-published magazine. These ways can be obvious, like selling advertising, or unexpected. The most obvious way to generate revenue from a self-published magazine is, of course, by selling advertising. Now, if you're just getting started, I want to give you some definitions and some framework to work with. Let's look at an example flat plan to see how this could work for you. A flat plan simply refers to laying your ideas out flat and arranging them. This flat plan that you're seeing on your screen represents eight pages of a magazine with space reserved for two full-page ads, three half-page ads, and two quarter-page ads. These are shown here in blue. Using an average of $1,000 for full-page ads, $500 for half-page ads, and $250 for quarter-page ads, these eight pages could sell advertising worth up to $4,000 per issue. With a 40-page magazine, you could have advertising space worth up to $20,000 per issue with the right strategy and sales savvy. Some of my clients make more than this and some make much less. This is just a demonstration to show you what's possible. If you're just getting started, you may be thinking, but Jen, why would anyone want to invest in my magazine? I don't even have my first subscriber yet. Well, the answer is you need to be able to answer the question, what's in it for them? Advertisers are looking for attention. They want eyeballs on their brand. They want their ideal, perfect customers to become aware of them. And your magazine should be able to help them do just that if your reader is matched to their potential customers. You need to be clear on how you're going to deliver on your promise. Do you have an existing email list you could send the digital version to? Do you have an existing social media presence where you will be promoting? Do you have contributors and partners on board who have agreed to help promote the magazine to their audiences? Or do you have the budget and expertise for running ads on social media? Also, advertisers are more likely to support you financially if they just believe in your mission. Do you have the right reader for them? Are you championing a cause that they want to get behind? Do you have a clear value proposition? Do you have clear and compelling messaging? Remember, riches are in the niches when it comes to magazine self-publishing. The more specific you are about the items that I've listed here in this video, the greater your chances of success. If you're just getting started in magazine self-publishing, your next step should be to go register for MagazineFunnelSecrets.com Masterclass.
