This is a remote, freelance contractor role open to applicants worldwide. We especially welcome native and near-native speakers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, but qualified applicants from any location can apply. GoTranscript has served clients for well over a decade and already works with many German transcribers—we’re growing and need more skilled freelancers.

Professional experience helps, but it’s not required. You must be fluent in German (Hochdeutsch) and comfortable with regional varieties such as Swiss German and Austrian German, plus have strong spelling, punctuation, and comprehension. You’ll follow our style guide to keep transcripts consistent and client-ready.

It’s a simple two-step process: 1) pass the GoTranscript guidelines test, and 2) complete a short audio transcription. Start your application on the official page: German transcription job at GoTranscript.

You’ll answer a brief guidelines quiz and transcribe a short audio sample (typically 3–5 minutes). The test checks your accuracy, punctuation, formatting, timestamping, and ability to follow instructions. Most applicants finish in about 10–20 minutes, depending on familiarity with the guidelines.

We pay weekly, every Friday. You can withdraw your earnings via PayPal, Payoneer, or USDC. Payouts are based on approved work completed during the prior pay period.

You’ll need a reliable internet connection, quality headphones, and a quiet workspace. GoTranscript provides a browser-based transcription tool with an integrated editor, timestamps, and hotkeys—no paid software required. A foot pedal is optional but can help with productivity.
