Speaker 1: Do you know that two attorneys were sanctioned for using chat GPT?

Speaker 2: I have heard this is a hot topic using the AI and you're exactly right. There have been attorneys sanctioned. So I do think attorneys need to learn how to use these new devices, these new technology, these new tools, because it's not ending, it's only going to get more evolved, more better, and we have a duty to be on top of it. Some attorneys have gotten sanctioned because they're relied on it and it was just wrong, it was incorrect. It's actually a breach of our legal codes of ethics to cite to inaccurate, incorrect, or even fake law. You can't make up court decisions. Yes. That's just crazy to me. It was in fact a full delegation of the attorney's duties. I work with a lot of assistants to help draft the documents, but I review everything because it is not a full delegation of my independent duties that I'm licensed for. Everything falls under my umbrella and part of it is that I do get you trained up to a certain level of competence because I have a duty of competence myself and everything I submit under firm letterhead with my signature or those who represent the firm has to be up to those certain standards and we can't just rely on a tool. AI is just a tool. It is not a replacement for legal expertise.

Speaker 1: Yes, I agree. I do think it's convenient though, sometimes.

Speaker 2: Yes, I agree as well. It's efficient and we have a duty to be efficient. We have to incorporate it, but we do not rely on it.

Speaker 1: I agree.

Speaker 2: It's a process with me and that is just a tool within the process, within the creative process, the legal writing process, and we can't disregard these tools, it would actually be a disservice to our clients not to take advantage of the top technology. I agree. Yeah, we actually have a duty to do it. I would encourage you honestly to use it for everything and to know how to use it and know what it's best for and how to incorporate it into our systems and operations. I actually encourage you to do it, not in moderation, but for everything. But here's the rule, we don't rely on it, all right? We do it for drafts and we verify because we cannot rely on it. It is not a licensed attorney, we have to check cases, we have to understand it is just a tool, there are errors, and with any algorithm and how AI operates, there are trends and hallucinations, it just cannot be relied upon. However, it's good for giving you that foundational structure, skeleton, to get you going with writing, to help you identify the issues so you can expound and actually make it accurate.

Speaker 1: Yes, I agree.
